  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Other than me, does anyone else think that Stranger is a really deep-thinking God-fearing guy with a big heart and a creative spirit by which he enlightens, observes, and discerns, and that sometimes this is too much to respond to when the mind is drained and the body is weary from a day that has been too full?

Is it that we need many threads in one , some light-herted for the superficial things of this world , others deeper for reflections on what God wants of us eventually ? :prayer:

Is it really wise to drain one's body with empty goals in this world ?

Ecclesiastes 1:14 , Ecclesiastes 2:11, Isaiah 41:29 ?

Can one truly serve God and Mammon ?

Does the world make many folks grey and dead ?

...

Is light humour the solution, or just a way of repeating the same old mistakes and laughing at one's denial of one's own heart ?

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4 ?

Anyone for a snowball fight ? ;)

What makes you think that my expression of concern for your health constituted my being offended? Do you think it bothers me what you wear? :D

Will moving to sunnier climes like this , for the Winter, help , and stop you worrying about my health ?

What is the meaning of life? It begs the question of love and devotion. And what of love and devotion. How shallow or deep is it? And how long can I be merciful and long suffering.

Is the purpose of first life not written?

2Thess 2, Isaiah 14, Ezek 28 ?

Is the meaning of life not found in the love of God?

Is that sufficient explanation for those who cannot love now?

Is not sin not the opposite of love , and all men been sinners , except Jesus ?

Do men still keep pagan [Babylonian astrological] days like that and yet ignore the holy days set by God for all time ?

While I geniunely respect your piety, I'm afraid I must ask once more, don't you think you're taking life just a teensy bit too seriously? Perhaps the origins of celebrating birthdays are pagan in origin somehow, but even so, can it really be considered a "pagan day" if the person celebrating it isn't doing so in an astrological context? Is it not true that a person can celebrate the holiday known as Christmas without being Christian by any means?

Tell me, would it not be fully appropriate to celebrate and give thanks to God on the anniversary of the beginning of one's life, which is itself a wonderful gift from God?

Is keeping pagan ritual alive not a serious matter , as men worldwide trample on God's holy rituals and days , and keep, IN PLACE OF God's memorial days , the ritual celebrations and rites of gods they do not even worship openly ?

Is God not a serious matter to consider , a cause of much pain and sorrow and soul-searching in giving up sin in true repentance , before one can rejoice in Him through trial to perfection of one's love?

Perhaps the origins of celebrating birthdays are pagan in origin somehow, but even so, can it really be considered a "pagan day" if the person celebrating it isn't doing so in an astrological context?

Is not their only meaning in the Babylonian astrological paganism... ? If men celebrate pagan days. Yet corrupt God's holy days , do they not offend God by worshipping ,however poorly, by pagan ritual , yet ignoring the ritual God set as memorials to men for all time ?

Is it not true that a person can celebrate the holiday known as Christmas without being Christian by any means?

Why would any saint celebrate Xmas gluttony as the poor continue to starve in the world and churches of human sinners do not stop it , do not even share their food as they hypocritically say 'good will to ALL men' on Xmas day as another 50,000 little kids die on that same day they stuff their faces and give gifts none of them actually need ...?

Tell me, would it not be fully appropriate to celebrate and give thanks to God on the anniversary of the beginning of one's life, which is itself a wonderful gift from God?

Did God ever give any such instruction? Was it not the Babylonian magi who claimed importance of one's day of birth as determining one's life , a truly deep pagan astrological belief never held by any Hebrew or Christian saint or by Jesus ?

Did God not show through the prophets that it is how we die that matters ?

Ecclesiastes 7:1 ?

Is truth (STRANGER) than fiction?

Are people strange and confused and desperate and conflicted, blind and naked and miserable because of denial of their own hearts of love on account of what the world and religion of men teaches them ?

Revelation 3:17-18 ?

Will we be subjected to this kind of questioning all the way up to Christmas day, even though the asker has no idea what we might all do in terms of both celebrating the day of our Lord's birth or in terms of charity? Is this not heaping judgement upon your brothers and sisters that you do not know very well? Are we not allowed to express Joy and Love? Is it not the place of the Spirit to pinch our consciences?
