What prevents you from simply ignoring those types? Nothing compels you to read their posts. I really don't get it.You know, believe it or not, I love to debate. I truly do. I was even on the debating team in high school. The problem here is, that I find that most people do not know HOW to debate properly. They've never been on an actual debating team, so most of them don't know the "rules of engagement". Therefore the alleged debate very quickly turns into nothing more than "I'm right, Your wrong". What each side can learn from the other is lost on someone just HAVING to be right. It becomes a street brawl, and that gets tiring real quick unless one is one of those types who LIVE to argue. I'm not one of those.
How can you be satisfied exploring ways of denying Jesus the wish expressed in His prayer "that they may be one?" How?You see what's transiring right now? Even in a thread trying to discuss how we can share this forum and NOT fight/argue all of the time, trouble has been caused and the arguing is starting.
I'm willing to wager that you guys don't even know each other personally, so where does this disdain come from? There's disdain here that goes way beyond doctrine.
And he starting to 'nitpick' on me again. Even after he asked for a truce.--hhhmmm man o manNight is already promising not to agree with Woob in any wiki discussions, and I'm sure Woob feels the same way about Night.
I'm voting for a split.
Now, here we have a rational approach.Sassy, there's a real cool feature on CF that lets you skip over posts you KNOW you aren't going to like.Use it sista.
I would just remind you of the law of unintended consequences. When problematic people are actually banned you will find that less rule violations will take place. We just need to raise the stakes higher than what they were while we were under the old rules.
T&O- I recall sometime back when an SDA forum was under attack from the 'liberal's. A few of them did get banned because their words and demeanors where such that there was little doubt as to their spiritual condition.I would personally thwack the first Traditional I saw going over there. There's no need in that and if anyone even THOUGHT about it, I'd try to talk them out of it.
We need to worry about ourselves, not others.
I am beginning to think that those who frequent this forum need to get a life. I can't believe that one's life is so bound up in an internet forum that an internet-divorce is sought.
Broaden your thinking and you will see that your comparisons don't work. I am not so distraught over another's dissent that I must ask for an internet forum be divided as a consequence. You're already halfway to the total of posts I average in a YEAR, in just 12 days, Sentipente.
Glass houses.....
Well dah!! The liberals ARE an off shoot of the body!!One other thing you should think about if there are two forums is who will have what names. For instance would the traditional side just call themselves Seventh-day Adventists and the Progressive have to use a modifier before they use SDA. Such an action would by default set the traditional side as SDA and the other as an offshoot.
Not that I would mind being an offshoot but I don't really want people to think that the traditional view is the only view in the SDA church.
Well dah!! The liberals ARE an off shoot of the body!!
Mankin--may I ask that you mind our own business ?Give it a rest, honor. This isn't a debate.
Mankin--may I ask that you mind our own business ?
I noticed in the thread that Night started against me last night that when it all over and apologises made--YOU tried to start in on me there and get the whole thing started again. You need to back away little man!
