Should the SDA Forum Be Split?

It is best to learn how to love each other. This will only happen when we look to Christ, and allow Him to unite us. By running away from each other we will not solve the problem, but by creating rules that keep bad behavior in check we can make good things happen in here. You can help us do that.

This poll reminds me of the two mothers who came to Solomon to decide who should get the child who survived the night.

Yep! Maybe the only "alternative" is the one no one wants: take down the whole section period.

The reason I didn't say anything is the same reason I quit coming to this forum a long time ago.

It doesn't lift up Christ to bicker back and forth and try to one up each other with snide comments.

We couldn't fix this problem two years ago, and I don't think we'll fix it now unless we make the division what it is. It's obvious to everyone that visits here anyway.

I'll be happy to post when I can say what I want without being attacked for it.

One other thing you should think about if there are two forums is who will have what names. For instance would the traditional side just call themselves Seventh-day Adventists and the Progressive have to use a modifier before they use SDA. Such an action would by default set the traditional side as SDA and the other as an offshoot.

Not that I would mind being an offshoot but I don't really want people to think that the traditional view is the only view in the SDA church.

I don't see how the Admins of this site would feed into the nonsense being brewed here. This poll is ill-advised and a non-starter from the beginning.

I wonder if the Traditionals on this forum have the blessing of all TSDAs.

They made a serious mistake and rather than admit it and pray to God for forgiveness they go throughout the web making trouble at every opportunity they get. Paul had the same problem with the Judaizers in his day, following him from town to town. It's a variant of Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. So, they go out to encourage others to follow in the same mis-steps they took.

This is the root and the solution for all our problems. But, as one person observed: lots of people want a Saviour, they just don't want a Lord.

Same goes for the "progressives." There's one here that has claimed he's the only true progressive. So, where does that leave you and the others?

Anyone can claim to be anything. Does he attack other progressives? The progressives don't need a leader, nor do they accuse others of misrepresenting the progressive agenda.

Where is everybody today? I wish there was more participation, but I know this is a big cleaning day for all of us women Adventists.

I voted for how I feel but if it does happen that we're stuck with each other, I do think the stricter rules will help a lot.

I'm not necessarily opposed to either way, I would just like to see something happen quickly (and I'd like to see more people use the ignore feature if they know they're going to fight with a certain person).

I am beginning to think that those who frequent this forum need to get a life. I can't believe that one's life is so bound up in an internet forum that an internet-divorce is sought.

I have been a moderator in a forum on another VERY large support site for over a year now. I spend numerous hours a day monitoring the posts and making certain that the rules and policies of the owner of the site are being followed. If they aren't, I go to work quickly to correct the situation. No matter who the author of the infraction is, they are dealt with. I have had what we call Super Mods and Administrators alike, remove posts of mine where I have "forgotten myself" and posted something a little to sternly. Everyone is treated the same.

This takes a monumental amount of work and having staff on the same page. Not only on the same page, but willing to take care of the problems quickly and fairly.

This forum, in my humble opinion, has been completely out of control for a very long time. Since I have been back and posting now and then, I myself, have "reported" quite a few posts that were DEFINITE attacks on the poster, not the information within the post. I would be notified that action had been taken and find the reported post still where I found it. Mostly nothing was done.

This kind of action isn't going to help whip this forum into the kind of shape I see wanted by the posts of this particular thread. Liken it to being a teacher or caregiver to a large room full of children who've been allowed to have their own way, and act out in ugly manners, any time they want. The only way to bring that room full of "incorrigles" into line would be to have someone(s) at the helm who are willing to discipline said children for each and every infraction of rule, no matter how small of an infraction one thinks it to be. It's the only way, and I don't see moderators here spending the time or effort that would take. Sorry, I can only go by what I see and experience.

I see the "progressives" in the same light as I see all other "offshoots" of my church. They take what they like of her, and spit the rest out. They seem to have a habit of "spitting the rest out" on top of my and other Seventh-day Adventists' heads. The appear to enjoy, not only telling me that I'm brainwashed and refuse to talk about things "outside of the box", and of insinuating that I am ignorant because I have no problems with the 28 fundamental beliefs or Ellen White. It's not usually an attack on what I believe, it's an attack on me and my intelligence level, personally. I'm tired of it.

If one doesn't believe in the teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist church any longer, then fine. Go with God. But, I for one, am sick to death of having them come at me trying to get ME to see the error of my ways, when friends and neighbors, I'm hear to tell you that according to my Lord and Savior's own words, I'M not the one in error.

It has already been shown over and over again, that having both in one forum is not working nor is it going to work.

I'm ashamed alright, but not for the reasons being stated that we SHOULD feel ashamed. I am ashamed of all of the discord, all of the fighting and squabbling that others can come in here and see.

I've said this once, but I feel it bears repeating. What has been transpiring in the Seventh-day Adventist forum, I liken to Baptists, Protestants, Lutherans, Methodists, Pentecostal's, etc. going in to the One Bread One Body forum and telling the catholic folks all about themselves and why they are ignorant for not leaving their faith, their church.

I don't believe they would tolerate that for one minute, and we have tolerated it for MUCH longer than we should have.

Thank you for the opportunity to speak on this. I feel that the "split" is the only way to stop this incessant squabbling. Each to stay to his own forum, and if either crosses over and causes a problem, they should be firmly disciplined.

I had to laugh out loud on that one considering you've been here 12 days and have 4X more posts than I do.

I've been here since 2005. You've been here a whopping week and a half.

How does that reflect the spirit of internet forums? Why would SDAs be given special treatment as the only ones who are placed on house arrest? It is easier to ignore certain threads and posts. That would demonstrate maturity and discipline.

I'm sorry you don't understand how important this is to some of us.

But here again, that doesn't mean we "don't have a life" or that we're ignorant, just because YOU don't get it.

You know, believe it or not, I love to debate. I truly do. I was even on the debating team in high school. The problem here is, that I find that most people do not know HOW to debate properly. They've never been on an actual debating team, so most of them don't know the "rules of engagement". Therefore the alleged debate very quickly turns into nothing more than "I'm right, Your wrong". What each side can learn from the other is lost on someone just HAVING to be right. It becomes a street brawl, and that gets tiring real quick unless one is one of those types who LIVE to argue. I'm not one of those.
