Actually, the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, the M60, and the FN Mag, all automatic weapons, hold 200 rounds a belt.

magnetic field: what mechanism causes the fields to restrengthen?...Besides is it speculation to assume that the rate as we find today may also have occured such that the magnetic field was reduced to such state that all forms of life may have been compromised before the magnetic field mysteriously increased(less strength more solar radiation) ..again is this a case of speculation that the fields somehow must have increased to support the evolutionary mode?l...what we DO KNOW is that there is a measurable rate of decay in the magnetic field...assuming a constant rate, a strong magnetic fields of prehistoric earth may have proven a great challenge to life shouldn't it..

Im not sure I understand this, however, its not speculation that the field has been both stronger and weaker in the past.

The magnetic field does not do as much protecting as you seem to think. The complete loss of our magnetic field would not produce a devastating increase on radiation. For more information, look up the scientific refutations to the science in the movie "the core"

The Theory of Evolution says nothing about the magnetic field.
