If being poor doesn't justify robbing somebody, then it doesn't justify aborting pregnancy either.
Anyway, you should take a look at the origin of birth control and it really just hurt women. The pill was seen, sadly, as the actual remedy to female liberation on all fronts, and it backfired on them.
As far as I am aware God hasn't revoked His first commandment! I.e. Go forth and multiply and fill the earth etc. If He has then as a father of 4 now we didn't get the memo.
The Bible also tells us that children are a gift from the Lord and blessed is the man (including woman) whose quiver is full of them and no matter how empty my wallet may be my heart never is!
Should we have them if we can't afford them? The world will tell us YES and condemn us as being irresponsible if we think otherwise, but we all belong to God, He has a plan and purpose for each and every one of us so who are we to determine this?
Also if you are a believer we are told to consider the lilies of the field and the birds of the air who neither toil nor reap and God provides all their needs. The same applies to us regardless of how many mouths we have to feed. Everything belongs to Him and He gives freely.
Jacob had 12 sons and who knows how many daughters, grandkids etc. and God fed them all in Egypt during a famine thanks to his 11th son Joseph! Imagine if he had decided to stop at 2 or 4 or 10 just because the world around him told him he was being irresponsible having so many kids. They'd all have perished and along with them the 12 tribes of Israel!
Egypt was their welfare state but only because God made it so through Joseph an 11th child. So let the rich feed the poor when necessary because they are only rich by God's hand not their own anyway (no matter what their arrogance may tell them)!
As for me and my house I have a good job (for now) praise God and we pay our way, but we also receive money from the government for our children, money I have paid in taxes over the years and continue to do so. We take out no more than we pay in and my children will pay for my state pension when I am older. So let's not throw our babies out with their bath water and forget that with an ever aging population our future depends on them!
The question shouldn't be if WE can afford them it should be can God afford them? The answer of course is YES. The problem is not one of affordability it is one of greed as too few have too much and too many have too little! God has provided sufficient resources, more than enough for all but our distribution methods are crooked and morally indefensible which is why Jesus said the poor will always be with us even unto the end of the age!
No, we shouldn't stop having kids! That is Satan's agenda! He hates humans because God created and loves us! He's already got us believing that contraception and abortion are acceptable and now he wants to cull us due to finances? Another fine example of money being the root of all evil!
Not being responsible enough to not get pregnant when you can't afford birth control and getting an abortion = abortion. Nice distracting from the point.
The command to go out and fill the earth has been fulfilled. The earth is now full.I disagree. God says to provide for you and your family. If you have children that you know you cannot provide for get fixed, do not have sex whatever you have to do, but do NOT keep having children.
Now, it is different if someone falls on hard times and ALREADY has children that it is acceptable.
I live in the UK and children are taken care of by the government here. We have to remember we need children or there would be no future. We need teachers, Doctors, Nurses, Musicians etc etc and without children society would perish. God ordered us to fill the Earth after all. It doesn't matter if you can't afford Nike trainers for you child, what matters is you love your child and show him/her. I'm a firm believer that developed countries should pay for the raising and education of undeveloped countries.
Women are not dying in childbirth like they used to. There is more risk from dying from pregnancy related complications than from birth control related complications.I believe the pill has caused a lot of the worlds' problems I was there when it was first introduced and things were noticed straight away. First were the deaths from blood clots and later came the autism and aspergers Then came the problem women were having with getting fertilised - going to clinics to have a baby. Immunisations have been blamed for a lot but it was after the pill - and what else is to be expected!? People thinking they can do God's work for them - preventing their bodies from acting naturally - they was asking for it!
I took a group of 15 girls on a sales job once. We stayed at a hotel they was all skinny-dipping in the pool at night which amazed me. I asked, 'Hey, don't any of you have your periods?' Answer was they never had them! they got rid of them with the pill. I knew there and then that these girls were in for trouble in later life.
You are the one who brought up abortion. It was never mentioned until you brought it up. The topic of the discussion is "should people who can't afford children, have them". It is not about abortion...so leave abortion out of it. j
Birth control was mentioned. This topic is not about abortion.
The earth is filled. Did you not notice. Over 7 billion.
There is a BIG difference between someone falling on hard times and needing help raising their family and someone who has dependents they KNOW they cannot afford because they will not keep it in their pants.Pffft, if you care about others, maybe.
Well, the poster has a point. In that there are only so many resources. Am I saying that we are using the resources in the wisest manner and doing the best we can as humans? No what I am saying is that there IS in fact a point at which we will run out of space/resources even if we did manage it better. And who appointed you chief statistician?
Again, I didn't get the memo from the Almighty Himself so if you would kindly attach/upload it I will concede the point!
"Should people have children if they can't afford it?"
No.
And if they have kids so they can feed off the dole then when they arrive at 11 dependents compulsory birth control should be enforced on the mother. And the latest sire on record.
First of all, how can birth control be death? Second of all, even if we did outlaw abortion people would still do it in a MUCH more unsafe way ( not saying that we should not just saying that doing so would not stop it.Thus spake the voice of Christian love and compassion! A whisper away from eugenics!
I weep for every child born into a world where those commanded to love and care for them (not just their parents) don't want them as they're a financial burden and take up too much space/resources etc! God loves them all and so should we. Love as I have loved you! He sacrificed His only Son to save us all, our sacrifice for such kids is nothing in comparison! Who was it that said, suffer the little children and forbid them not to come unto me for such is the kingdom of heaven? Well if paying welfare equals suffering then so be it! Perhaps if we stopped investing in death e.g. weapons, contraception, abortion, sterilisation etc there would be more than enough for all!

There is an EASY way to not have children you should NOT depend on God to provide or the government to provide when you KNOW you do not have the resources in and of yourself to care for them. When I say in and of yourself I am talking about where you are either on government assistance or just making ends meet and you are irrespendsiable I am not talking about after the fact when you fall on hard times lose your job or whatever else.Which God do you believe in?
The God of the infinite who knows just how many people will live and die on planet earth and as such has provided from the dawn of time enough for all (having factored in man's mismanagement, selfishness and waste) or a God who doesn't quite know what he is doing and so had to guess? I know which one I believe in!
I think I've said this before to you, don't limit God!
me?How many children have you adopted?

Thirdly, there is something called defending yourself which sometimes requires lethal force, hance the need for weapons.
I am not saying that we should not spend less on the defense budget, but to suggest that being well-armed is not important in these times is frankly just wrong.

Just having sons is not armed. I know many families who have sons I know several that have GROWN sons, but just standing there is not defense. Also, back then there was no birth control, but now there is and quite frankly mature responsiable people who choose to have sex either USE it or watch their cycles. If God had intended birth control He would have given Adam a condom! Instead He gave Eve headaches!
Birth control is death by omission, abortion is murder no matter how you justify or rationalise it and as for well armed I am as I have 4 sons, blessed is the man who has a quiver full of them ...
