  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Should I study science?

Better to study things that will help you materially. The deeper into science you get the more confused you will become.

I would speak for yourself in this regard. The more I got into science, including a graduate degree in physiology, the more things started to make sense.

The body of knowledge that most people really need doesn't include a lot of science. As I said science reading is a great diversion but not on the top of most people's reading list.

You'll notice that the most needed skill to study science is math, which is the weakest subject for most Americans.

I don't know what you mean by that, but, how has your understanding of physiology helped others? And what is the most important piece of knowledge regarding our health and fitness gleaned from your education? Or, is the study of physiology even concerned with health and fitness of the organism being studied?
How holistic is the study if at all?

No, I have a genuine interest in science. I just haven't been studying it lately.
Everybody should study science.

Not necessarily as a career of course, but as part of understanding our world.

I'm not a very science-y person, and I'm wondering if I should start studying science more, or if my time would be better spent on other things.

Do note I said science. Not pseudoscience. Pseudoscience is a whole different subject.

Go for it. What harm can it do?

Science is a process that is applicable to many facets of life.
Knowledge is power and the more you have the better off in the long run. ( i would suggest something that is in your field of interest or work, or where you would like to end up)
Without further specfics to a broad question, i will answe with a broad reply; yes.

I believe that in the right lenses, science can be one of the most powerful tools to gain understand and impact the world. I suppose it depends on the motive of why you are going into science in the first place. I believe your heart posture in the aim of study is significant to what you find and how you use your discovery to help others interpret better and perhaps give science a fair chance as a tool under God.
