Should I stick with it?

Hi kinda new here but I have a question,
I do a sport, not gonna name it but there are some questionable people. We are all in high school and I recently got saved from a terrible life. I stay close to Jesus. But after school when I go to the sport, there are some of my friends that I love dearly, but they use the Lords name in vain, and swear, and look at women in a lustful way. They talk bad about people and pop pain killers/ do drugs and don't believe in Jesus. They need Jesus, but they keep bringing me down with them. My friends at school say I shouldn't stick with the sport, but on the other hand I love these guys and I would hate to abandon them but it may be the best thing to do for my owns sake. I need your opinion on what should I do?

First of all, I am very glad you are following Christ!

You DEFINITELY want to pray for God's guidance on this. I will try to give you some advice, but I am not as good at this as God is!

First of all, is there a way you can hurry out of danger? For example, leave as soon as practice is over because you have to hurry home, etc. I have a lot of friends who I will talk with, but I never spend a lot of time around them because they bring me down.

Another thought is to just stand up to them. As soon as someone suggests everybody go (fill in the blank bad thing), tell them that you don't think it's right and you won't join them. If they argue, you can tell them it's against your faith, but with stuff like drugs you can also explain that it's a bad idea. It is really hard to stand up to friends, and someone will probably make fun of you. But there's also a chance that some of them will respect you for being able to stand up for your beliefs. It also reminds them that what they're doing is wrong; but you aren't judging them, you're just saying you won't.

You may find that you need to switch sports, which is OK. You don't want them to damage your faith. However, you may also find that things aren't any better in anther sport, because most high school kids aren't Christian. I think standing up to them is probably the best option, but I understand how hard that is!
