A very good answer but.......

Understand indeed, why? because this goes beyond external or empirical observation. Christ was not talking about an event taking place in the Jewish temple, but rather the abomination involving the TRUTH concerning himself:

I am 99.9% certain that he was talking about both...........
events in the Jewish Temple..... as well as the apostasy you write of.... both!

That is a valid question...... one that I have asked myself hundreds of times especially over these last thirty years.

Here is another valid question that I believe we Christians need to look at and prayerfully consider?

Is a Jerusalem Third Temple needed before Zechariah 14 can happen?

No, a temple is not needed nor required, As Jesus stated/implied and taught apart from Him there is no eternal life. God writes the new covenant on our hearts-The Fathers promise - Christ in us - How "God" chose to forgive sin. His decrees may be a narrow road but they are like a rock that can't be moved. Man in vain may try to widen that road to include others but it will be Jesus's words that prevail as He spoke the message the Father gave Him. Jesus was and is the word of life or word of the Father. (God)

According to the author of hebrews
5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
6with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
7Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’ ”a

8First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16“This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”b
17Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.”c
18And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

But what about the idea of the Ark of the Covenant being revealed........
mostly to verify that Moses, King David, King Solomon and the general details of the Jewish scriptures......
have validity........?

Here is a video where the speaker tells people that when the Ark of the Covenant is revealed..... .DO NOT bow to the box itself........... because to do so would be a form of idolatry.........
that does sound logical.

(Hey... that is kind of neat.... . I just noticed that my reply # 7077.... was to Randy777)!

Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

Christianity is ruled by a faithful High Priest appointed to the line of David. - Glory for His people Israel and a light to the gentiles. So Christianity is pro Zion and the One true God is the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

Who currently are the heirs and children of God in Gods eyes?
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Everyone who sins is a slave to sin unless the Son sets them free. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

So those who reject Jesus also reject the Fathers will and message are not in the family of God because they have not believed God. (Their choice) Those who seek truth find.

Did the death angel passover the homes of the Israelites in Egypt because they were Jews or because they believed and obey God and painted their doors frame with blood? God set the condition which means if a wise Egyptian who believed God and painted their door frames with blood by their "faith" would have also saved themselves from harm from the death angel. Likewise Jesus is our passover lamb and no one is redeemed because of their heritage. Even assuming one would trace that heritage back to Jacob. A righteousness that is from first to last is credited by faith in Jesus. I wouldn't want to give a false sense of hope in supporting a temple for a people who reject Gods anointed (Jesus) The worshippers God seeks are those who worship in spirit and truth.

This is the covenant and message and "way" that I would promote.-worship in Spirit and in truth
In the same way, after the supper Jesus took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

All good points.... but I do think that we need to take a look back at the relationship between the first century Messianic Jewish community with the Jews who ran the Temple.

This gives us ideas on how the world may transition over during the time that Ezekiel chapters 40 to 48 are being fulfilled.

What I see is that those Jews who didn't believe and continued in such unbelief at some point came before the One who judges and Jesus told them I don't know you. If the descendants of the hebrews who did believe remained in the faith then at this point in history they would be called Christians. As Jesus is called Christ. (Hidden in Christianity) I would point those who call themselves in this day and age Jews to Jesus as the way not a temple built by human hands in a desire to rekindle that which was rendered obsolete by the blood of the Jesus. We do not set aside the grace of God. Jesus is good news not bad news and those that listen to and learn from the Father go to Him and its the Fathers will for Jesus to raise us up on the last day. Jesus is the good Shepard.

This is one of the most puzzling desires among believers in Jesus I've ever heard. Truly, it takes the cake. I don't even think cults went this far.

What is the point of the Temple, when Jesus and his Body (his Church) incorporate the Temple now.. and when Jesus gave himself up for sacrifice? When Jesus is the Glory and Presence? Or when we also have the Holy Spirit gifted to us personally?

Is this to enact new sacrifices? Because then you diminish what the Messiah already did and are in dangerous territory. If it's just to be an assembly place, fine! But why call it "The Temple" then? It'll just be like every other gathering area.

One possibility would be a gift........
to his genetic family.... because Mary / Myriam the wife of Joseph......
obviously had several other children...... some of whom may have went with the
Rabbinic Jewish community around the time of the Bar Kochba Revolt......

.... or perhaps part of a divorce settlement???????????

...... or perhaps part of a dowry........ think in terms of the raising up of King David somehow??????

Could King David be raised up for the Jews decades before second coming of Jesus?

The Jewish community do not need our money for this.......... neither does the final Christian political Cyrus who will fulfill Isaiah 45.....

Absolutely not, God made clear he is not sitting in a temple built by hands, but the antichrist will, it will get crushed and a New Jerusalem will sit in her heaps then God and the Lamb will be the temple of it.

The Temple of Ezekiel will be/is being built by Christ. Zechariah 6:13 Even he (Jesus) shall build the temple of the LORD; and he (Jesus) shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his (Christ) throne; and he (Jesus) shall be a priest (The High Priest) upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

You're looking at the physical/flesh, when you should be looking at the spiritual. Christ is the chief cornerstone. The prophets and the Apostles are the foundation. Christian/believers are the bricks. Jesus is building the third Temple. Anything created by man would be an abomination.
May God be magnified.

In Christ

Obviously not, as the "Living Waters" of Zech 14:8 have been flowing since Jesus proclaimed their fulfillment in Him nearly 2000 years ago. (John 7:38)

That is true......
but literal living waters flowing from literal Jerusalem
as a fulfillment of Ezekiel 47 sure sounds good to me.

Thank you for that comment......
but what about the idea of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the time that
a Christian Political Cyrus begins to succeed in assisting the Jews to fulfill Ezekiel chapters 40 - 48?

I quote his article in post #1 here.....
This makes sense to me.....

Do you believe a massive Holy Spirit tsunami is coming?

The Living Waters Jesus fulfilled aren't Literal?

They are said to be strong enough that if you take one drink, ye shall never thirst again.

Why would anyone seek a supposed greater fulfillment than "One drink and ye shall never thirst again"??
