"The vast majority of species that are hunted -- waterfowl, upland birds, mourning doves, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, crows, coyotes, etc. -- provide minimal sustenance and do not require population control."

1. Most animals killed are neither being eaten nor are targets to be culled.
2. These numbers don't include the wounded animals that die agonizing deaths.
3. Hunters are hardly in a position to treat nonhunters in a condescending manner. What you portray is hardly representative of the average hunter.![]()

American demographics and a change in culture are slowly eroding the significance of the gun-lobby and its influence in politics.![]()
The government is going to serverly limit, then vitually take away, gun ownership, I do fear. All in the name of 'terrorism'. Just watch!The_Horses_Boy said:Mhmmm. So try taking their guns away, which they have a Constitutional right to, and you'll learn about the effectiveness of a sawed off shotgun - or any gun for that matter. Why do you have anything against people with guns? Hunters are what keep America safe. Look at the simple statistics. 20% of America is rural, 80% urban: over 50% of Army personnel are from rural regions. Militia? Does NYC have a militia? No, but the rural country has militia.
May also want to notice that people's rights are eroding about as quickly as gun ownership.![]()

It will be a travesty, and help bring about the downfall of that great nation, if it happens.
Good! I hope they're all legal!The_Horses_Boy said:Nope. We've got enough guns at my dad's place to arm a small militia, and so does every guy he knows. If they try taking guns away there will be some kind of rebellion, I guarantee it. Over half of the people in the armed forces are the type that keeps guns in their houses for protection and/or for hunting.
Can't disagree there. As I said, our rights are eroding as quickly as gun ownership.

Yes, and since Jesus was empathetic, gentle, nurturing and kind, we should emulate women by dressing our boys in dresses and giving all of our jobs to women. Furthermore, we should make it illegal for men to serve in law enforcement, firefighting, or the military for the next 5,000 years.BLESSEDBETHEMEEK said:I used to hunt but have since quit, i have thought long and hard on this issue.
When you kill something no matter what it is be it a human or a fruit fly you are TAKING AWAY all it HAS and all that it will EVER have...
We as christians have a choice, the majority of us do not need to hunt for food but hunt for the pleasure of the sport, I have heard many hunters say in defense say " I like being outdoors " OK! yet you need to hunt? a.k.a. KILL, why not hike, camp, or better yet outdoor/wildlife photography.
I also hear a number of Hunters say that it is a means of continuing on a tradition... to which i say, Slave traders held certain parts of their business as "traditions" yet they were WRONG...
The majority of us dont need to hunt for our food there is enough violence and death and killings committed on a daily basis in the worlds slaughterhouses.,,,,,,
I wil leave you with a few quotes to think about:
Poor animals! How jealously they guard their pathetic bodies... that which to us
is merely an evening's meal, but to them is life itself.
-- T. Casey Brenna
We are all God's creatures--that we pray to God for mercy and justice while we
continue to eat the flesh of animals that are slaughtered on our account is not
consistent.
-- Isaac Bashevis Singer
We pray on Sundays that we may have light
To guide our footsteps on the path we tread;
We are sick of war, we don't want to fight,
And yet we gorge ourselves upon the dead.
-- George Bernard Shaw
When a man wantonly destroys one of the works of man, we call him a vandal. When
he wantonly destroys one of the works of God, we call him a sportsman.
-- Joseph Wood Krutch
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he
eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his
appetite. And to act so is immoral.
-- Leo Tolstoy
And when I think of the suffering of the creatures in our factory farms,
laboratories, puppy mills, or of any animal neglected or mistreated by man, for me there is no more powerful question than to ask: "What would the Good Shepherd
think of this?"
-- Matthew Scully
