Should Christian Americans aid illegal aliens?

BWS: As a Christian, would you aid someone whom you knew was an illegal alien? Would you support your church doing so?

(I'm sure Californians and Texans have stronger opinions on this than we North Carolinians...)

Hmm...I'd say like most things..it depends.

It probably would be right to help out the illegal alien as part of our duty to help the poor. Helping him or her to get legal status would definitely be important, both as part of helping the person and obeying the law as much as possible.

We are to help our neighfor, and our neighbor is anyone in genuine need.

If the person came from a persecution situation, even if they weren't a Christian, I would try to help them get asylum status.

But if it were some guy whose tourist visa expired and he wanted me to lie about it, I would not.
