Should an ex-Christian be able to explain why?

No, I quite sure someone who loves truth said it before me.

Ok, I will once again. We will start with the question(s).

Does righteousness exist, and if it does, what is it?

in Christ, Not me

Ok, for the fun of it:

adjective
characterized by uprightness or morality:
a righteous observance of the law.

Does that work for you as a definition?

Nobody said that "truth does not exist by itself". I have stated that truth does exist, I believe something is true. And that would be truth.

in Christ, Not me
I said truth doesn’t exist by itself. Again, truth exists as a property of a proposition. A proposition can be true like a rock can be heavy. True is a word that describes the accuracy of a proposition. Heavy is a word that describes the weight of an object. It doesn’t manifest on its own as an “essence.” Do you get it now?

No, it is not complete enough for the understanding of what righteousness is itself. A more exacting and complete definition is necessary here, which would be "that which is right".

Who decides what is "right" and how do you test whether they are "right"?

Sorry but your not following the conversation. I said "nobody said that truth doesn't exist by itself" not that truth doesn't exist by itself. For truth can most diffidently exist by itself, there just would be no manifestation of it.

No, you’re not following the conversation. You’re claiming that nobody said precisely what I’ve been saying. You’re confused about what truth is. And how can anything be said to exist with no manifestation?

You can not decide "what" is right till you believe and know that there is a right and a wrong. Is there a right and wrong?

What is right and wrong is a morality question. You will get various opinions on what is right and wrong, including Christians.

So there are no absolutes?

Morality is subjective and is so even among Christians. Why do you think there are countless denominations of Christianity? Each person picks the flavor they like.

So because people can't figure out what is right (righteousness) and wrong (unrighteousness), righteousness and unrighteousness therefore does not exist. Is that your conclusion.
