Nah, the US would never invade Canada - too many socialists up here. Once we were absorbed and got the vote that'd be the end of Republican presidents! Plus, we're safe as long as we have Quebec, Americans are spooked by the french, they make Americans feel inferior.

It would not make sense for Alberta to go--where would they go? The province is surrounded on all sides, we could cut off thier water supplies or reroute thier river systems to benefit the surrounding provinces. We could make them produce passports and create trade agreements with them before allowing them to just leave and wander around Canada. We also could make them pay back all the medicare and welfare benefits they've recieved from the Canadian system before they decide to create thier own country in the middle of ours. We could also limit thier travel and air-space usage for flights coming in and out of Alberta.

But the first thing we would do is start syphoning out thier oil and gas out of thier tiny country by all gassing up there and saving all the oil we have in the Mackenzie Delta and offshore in BC. We'll bleed them dry of gas in record time!!! And we'll quit being tourists in Alberta by getting everyone to go to every other province with tourism incentives.

Plus anyone from Alberta that works in the NWT Diamond mines will have to transfer out of Alberta to keep thier jobs or pay penalties for working in Canada and residing out of the country.

Oh, we also won't cheer the Calgary Flames or the Edmonton Oilers anymore for abandoning the country of Canada, that loves and supports hockey and are the best hockey fans in the world.

200 odd years ago a bunch of quacks decided to split from the Commonwealth because of somethin´ called "taxation without representation". This is The West´s Declaration of Independence !!!!!

You call the United States a bunch of quacks and yet you yourself want to seperate? Hmm...so what does that make you? A hypoquacktic?
The United States never split from the British Commonwealth, but the British Empire. The Commonwealth was a much later invention designed by the British once they realized their empire wouldn't be too hot if all the countries decided to leave like the US. And Alberta has representation...if you want more representation - either get in boatloads of immigrants or...start breeding like rabbits.

Not only would I be for it, I'd run for a political party to represent it. I am so sick of the east. I'm tired of the tax, I'm tired of the bought votes, I'm tired of the Liberal government...

Between BC, Alberta and Sask, we'd be pretty self-reliant.

Aw, yes, another idea that may sound good on paper --- well, for about five minutes --- but would never, ever, ever work in reality. Alberta needs Canada and Canada needs Alberta. Each without the other would be weaker. There's a balance between federal government and provincial governments that may need to be adjusted from time to time. But succession is not the way to go. Neither is Stephen Harper.

Yes, I'm tired of tax. Suck it up? I can't, every time I get something the government takes it and gives it to their friends. Seems the east has more Liberal friends though. As for NDP, if that was what the provinces voted, that'd be fine, as a matter of fact that would be perfect. Weird to actually think someone could have the government they voted for eh?

As for the adjustment between federal and provincial, perhaps it would be better if the adjustment actually helped us? Oh, it's ok to take billions, the Liberals will give a few million back, that's the adjustment?...after of course we pay for another liberal trip or PACK OF GUM. Sorry, I'd stick with Stephen Harper before Liberal any day. Heck, if Liberals look like they're losing, perhaps Ujjal Dosanjh will go back to NDP?

-- poverty is rather a useless term...it changes every year. I'm sure the rest of the world is absolutely terrified that the great economic giant Saskatchewan will overtake the rest of the world....I'm sure they are just terrified.

If in the East are bureaucrats, what are the westerners -- well actually more or less just concerned about what you call yourself because I don't believe many of the rest of the west would prefer to be labelled under your rebellion. Just remember the fate of the last rebellion out of the west...left hanging in the wind...
