Firefly! So much potential, but I suppose it was too much of a bizarre concept to appeal to the general public (sci-fi western).

Grosse Point. Does anyone remember this? I thought it was hilarious, but apparently nobody else thought so as t only lasted half a season.

Roswell. Even though it went for three seasons, which is quite good compared to some shows, I think it deserved at least another season.

Kindred: The Embraced. Even though Aaron Spelling was involved, I quite liked it, and wanted more.

Earth 2. I thought that this was a great show.

I liked Miracles and Joan of Arcadia too.
Fire fly was definitely a great show!!

I was suprised to find out that the original Kolchak: The Night Stalker with Darren McGavin only lasted one season.

That was one of my favorite shows growing up!! I bought the DVD boxed set of that one season and had the fun of reliving them all with our kids.

That was a great show!

Another short lived one was Ellery Queen, starring the late Jim Hutton. It last only one season, but was fantastic. We were given ALL the clues, but before the murder was announced, Ellery would tells us that we had everything we needed to solve the mystery! No hidden clues--if you watched it, you could solve it!;)

I remember that one! It was a favorite at our house. IIRC, it only lasted one season because Jim Hutton died. (I loved Hutton in The Green Berets, too! Marginal movie, at best, but Hutton was good in it.)

Yes, it was one of my favorites. But--It was cancelled due to low ratings, and not the death of Jim Hutton. The series lasted from 1975-1976, and Jim died in 1979 from cancer.

Here are a couple of sites for everyone here. This one is probably the best for checking out all tv shows. Sometime you get an ad when going here; if you do, just click on the continue to tv.com thing:

If you want to check on the death date of any star, athlete, or any other famous person, or if you just want to find out if that person is still living, try:

Speaking of short lived programs--how about the ones that were so bad they only last one program? I know of three-and I saw two of them!

Who's Whose from 1951

Turn On--1969 This show was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in. The advance publicity about the sexuality of the show caused many ABC affliates to refuse to air it. It was zapped after the first aring, and for good reason--it was bad! I had the misfortune of tuning in!

You're In The Pictue--This one is not listed on Tv.com, but was a show hosted by Jackie Gleason. The idea was that 4 stars placed their faces into a picture, and then had to guess, by asking questions, what the picute was. The second show was only Jackie telling his viewers how sorry he was that the first one ever aired!

"Freaks and Geeks" was the first show that came to mind. I don't think it even made it for ten episodes. Too bad it wasn't a Fox show...would have lasted maybe ten seasons. :)

I was also surprised to see that the original Night Stalker was only on for one season. Seemed like longer when I was young. Even though when I saw them recently I was also surprised just how bad they were. I still enjoyed it though.

Arrested Development.
It won an Emmy, it was critically acclaimed...and it got canned..the third season had to be cut short...

Also, Jack of All Trades and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., both shows starring Bruce Campbell, both only lasting one season. :(

Firefly was surely awesome
Just started watching Wonderfalls last night, really like it.
mwb mentioned Police Squad, loved that!
WannaWitness mentioned the Charmings! That was great too, the Pronce Charming guy is on Reba now.

No one mentioned this, Sledgehammer from the late 1980's, parodied Dirty Harry to a degree. David Rasche played a cop that talked to his gun.

I'm glad many of these have been put out on DVD, I mean, if the simple life is available, every show should be!
