  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When I was in high school, it was cool to go to Goodwill and Salvation Army and find good finds. I found some of my coolest outfits @ garage sales and thrift stores. Now, I prefer the new stuff....but it really was the cool thing to do. You could always find really unique, one of a kind stuff.

:D same here. It was loads of fun. Now, I don't have the time for the foraging that thrift shops require. Those aisles of clothes are just too fun for my monkeys to hide in.:p

I love to shop at the thrift stores. I get the "extras" from there, and the basics brand new. (like a good pair of pants, skirt, dress etc.) and fill in with the extras. Most of the thrift/op shops I go to, usually have a kids section where they play in there while I can get a chance to rummage through everything. You would be amazed at what you can find. I know the right places to go now, places where I have picked up brand names for 50c. Bargain.

my only problem with that (because I love it too) is that she has the patience of a boiling tea kettle... it's hard to get her to wade through that stuff.

I understand that. Then some of the ones here just smell bad.

that's true too. to be perfectly honest, my favorite "thrift" place is ebay. I can put in specific parameters and only get to see what will fit me and what I am looking for.

i just moved last year and have yet to find a good thrift place in my area... most just carry old lady clothes with synthetic fabrics and really big sizes.

The ones here are just really nasty. We do have one though called Americas Thrift Store, it is almost decent. Not Macy's decent, lol but almost Dollar General Store at Christmas time when everyhing is thrown all over the floor.

If it were me, I would look into seeing about a Pre-Paid Credit Card. I think there is like a min. fee to put money on the card, say you give $20.00 the balance on the card would be $18.00, but its almost like a pre-paid phone card. They sell them here at Wal-mart and most pharmacy's. That way she would not have to worry about losing any money. And would be able to keep up with the receipts, if something needed to go back or whatever. And I'm pretty sure anywhere she wanted to use the card would take it since they have them in the major credit card names.

Those are great. I have bought them in the past when I didn't want her to have cash, like when she went to Disney.

They really are great. That's what family gave J for his birthday and that made it easier on me because I wasn't limited to just one store in going to get him things. There is a fee to set it up, but totally worth it IMO!

It isn't expensive at all and you can get them almost any where. I had actually looked into on of the ones that they put your name on for Taylor. I was going to just have her child support direct deposited onto it. They wouldn't put her name on it because she is under 18. Of course she didn't want it with my name on it, so we are back to her using her savings debit card.
