What do you guys think about shooting pool in a bar?

Is it possible for me to be a good witness in that situation?

I really enjoy playing the game and I usually drink Diet Coke when I go but every now and then I like to have a beer. Do you guys think this is wrong, or can I be a good witness by practicing moderation with the beer limiting it to one or two bottles?

please only serious answers.

Absolutely no problem with it whatsoever... I also enjoy playing pool, I'm not exactly good at it, but I enjoy playing. I also have an alcoholic drink and freely socialise in the bar with my friends. I don't get drunk, I don't curse and I still try to be careful with my words, but I have a good time and enjoy myself. Just because we are Christians, it doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves. Enjoy your pool

Jerry,
Most importantly is try to be led by the Spirit. Understand the love of God and Jesus Christ and all that Christ has accomplished for you. Rejoice in the Lord and you will shine on the outside and naturally attract people to you, and they will want to know what it is that you have (and then you can tell them it's Christ in you). Also remember, we aren't all evangelists, and some are better than others, so don't neccessarily try to force it. Pray for God to bring to you people in any situation you are in, and if you are ready He will send them to you, and you can send them to Christ, and if it doesn't happen don't feel bad. God knows your heart and your desires, first and foremost love Him and Christ and others, and everything else will fall into place.

P.S. I think that shooting pool and drinking beer is just fine. Have fun, love others. God Bless

God Bless

It depends on who you roll with. Some people will stumble if they see you with a beer. Others will not. Hopefully, you'd get to know which ones will and which ones won't by getting to know them. If you drink, don't even approach getting drunk. If your friends see you limit yourself, they should respect that.

As for shooting pool, go for it.

Jesus drank wine, so it's not bad to drink beer! It's also not a sin to be in a bar (unless it's a strip bar, which means strong chance of lust entering in) because being in a bar doesn't make you a drunk just as being in church doesn't make you a Christian!

I hope you don't mean that the way it sounds. There are many situations in which it would not be possible to be a good witness. Can you be a good witness while you are in the midst of telling a lie, getting drunk at a party, selling illicit drugs, committing adultery, etc.?

My church has a pool table in its rec room (lol) :)

While I don't believe that Christians should drink alcohol (this is just my belief), playing pool while having a soda isn't bad.

In all things moderation. I went last night and shot pool and had my usual two beer limit then switched to diet Coke.

I personally don't think that it is a sin to shoot pool, go to a bar, or drink a beer. But, what I do think that it affects your testimony and your influence. A mother is not going to be as willing to allow her child to visit with a youth minister who is constantly seen going into a bar. What people see you do really influences how they perceive you. I hope I made sense.

A bar is a great place to be a witness. A friend of mine used to go to a bar everyday just to talk to people. He would just sit there and drink coffee and talk to anyone who wanted to talk. They all knew he was a christian, (in fact he was a pastor). He didn't drink beer, although I don't think he had a problem with others drinking beer as long as they didn't get drunk. He also didn't cuss.

But, over time he led more people to Jesus than anyone else I know. Most of the converts were people that he initially met in the bar. He was non-judgemental and his main purpose for going to the bar was not to play pool or have fun, but to help people.

Maybe you could just change your focus a little. Keep playing pool in the bar and drop the cussing if possible, but make your focus people not fun. Just like Jesus did.

But is the OP a youth minister?
