  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I absolutely love a lot of their music, different from one another though these bands are, I still love the feel of shoegaze. What do you guys think?

Seconded on Asobi Seksu - I absolutely love "Walk On The Moon", and was kind of surprised when Amazon MP3 had "Me & Mary" up for free download a few weeks ago. I also have a few other songs such as "Crank" (Catherine Wheel), and stuff from Autumn's Grey Solace, as well as "Only Shallow" by My Bloody Valentine. While All About Eve also dabbled in the genre on Ultraviolet ("Phased", ftw), most of their other stuff is typically filed under Goth Rock or Folk Rock. Aside from those though, I don't have much exposure to shoegaze.

Showgaze kind of emerged in the mid-80s and was quite big in the 90s alt/indie scene... and seems to be still active today. The problem is that the term is thrown about so much anymore, that I often question whether it is a genre at this point. It seems to have been engulfed into different sub-genres of the indie movement.

Yet with that aside, I find that the movement has brought a lot to the evolution of music... so interesting.

much peace
