But will the world wake up before it is too late?

Iran could easily have nuclear power- but have a neutral country like Russia supply the nuclear fuel so that there is no question of it being diverted to building weapons. The fact that they won't even consider that option is a pretty strong indication of their true intentions- and certainly suggests that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not telling the truth about his motives here.

We came very close to a world-wide holocaust in the 1930's- Hitler's Germany was years ahead of everyone else in missile technology, and was just a few months behind the U.S. in the development of an atomic bomb. Hitler's mistake was timing- if he had waited a few years before starting WWII, he would have had both the bomb and an unmatched delivery system.

We can't afford to make the same mistake with Iran. Thank goodness that the French and Germans have now also woken up to that fact.

The longer we wait, the more painful the extraction is going to be.

UNITED NATIONS - Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Tuesday that Iran's disputed nuclear program is closed as a political issue and said Tehran will ignore a U.N. Security Council demand imposed by "arrogant powers" to curb its nuclear program.
if(window.yzq_d==null)window.yzq_d=new Object();window.yzq_d['N9eRMNGDJGw-']='&U=13bd2oa5e%2fN%3dN9eRMNGDJGw-%2fC%3d607139.11289347.11967048.1442997%2fD%3dLREC%2fB%3d4901758';

Instead, he told world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly that Iran has decided to pursue the monitoring of its nuclear program "through its appropriate legal path," the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency.
When Ahmadinejad was ushered to the podium, the U.S. delegation walked out, leaving only a low-ranking note-taker to listen to his speech, which indirectly accused the United States and Israel of major human rights violations. State Department spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos said the U.S. wanted "to send him a powerful message."
The Iranian president spoke shortly before German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned the diplomats of "disastrous consequences" for Israel and the world if Iran acquires a nuclear bomb. "The world does not have to prove to Iran that Iran is building a nuclear bomb. Iran has to convince the world that it is not striving towards such a bomb."
Hours earlier, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the assembly that allowing Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons would be an unacceptable risk. "There will not be peace in the world if the international community falters in the face of the proliferation of nuclear arms," Sarkozy said. The Iranian crisis "will only be resolved if firmness and dialogue go hand-in-hand."
Iran insists the program is purely peaceful, aimed solely at using nuclear reactors to generate electricity. But the United States and key European nations believe the program is a cover for an Iranian attempt to produce nuclear weapons.
Ahmadinejad has defied two Security Council resolutions demanding Iran suspend enrichment and imposing escalating sanctions on key figures and organizations involved in the nuclear program. He made clear in his speech that Iran did not intend to comply with them now.
"In the last two years, abusing the Security Council, the arrogant powers have repeatedly accused Iran and even made military threats and imposed illegal sanctions against it," he said.
"Previously, they illegally insisted on politicizing the Iranian nation's nuclear case, but today, because of the resistance of the Iranian nation, the issue is back to the agency, and I officially announce that in our opinion the nuclear issue of Iran is now closed and has turned into an ordinary agency matter," Ahmadinejad said.
Iran has decided "to pursue the issue through its appropriate legal path ... and to disregard unlawful and political impositions by the arrogant powers," he said.
IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei and Iranian officials agreed in July that Tehran would answer questions from agency experts by December on more than two decades of nuclear activity — most of it secret until revealed over four years ago.
This week, IAEA technical officials returned to Tehran to to start probing outstanding questions, some with possible weapons applications. But while Iran is allowing the IAEA to inspect its known nuclear facilities, it no longer allows inspectors freedom to look elsewhere for suspicious activities on short notice as it once did.
The U.S. initially opposed the plan, fearing it could draw attention away from Iran's defiance of the Security Council demand for a halt to Iranian uranium enrichment. It later endorsed the plan while emphasizing that must obey the council.
A third Security Council resolution, with tougher sanctions, is being discussed. President Bush has refused to take military action off the table if Iran does not comply.
Speaking to reporters later, Ahmadinejad attempted to clarify Tehran's stance.
"It's closed as a political issue," he said, stressing that it is a legal issue "and therefore should have been examined solely within the framework of the IAEA."
"However, certain big powers ... have made every effort to turn a simple legal issue into a very loud, controversial, political issue," he said.

Iran was not without allies. Nicaragua's leftist President Daniel Ortega angrily chastised the U.S. for seeking to stop other countries from enriching uranium, which is allowed under the Nonproliferation Treaty.
Ortega said the United States, as "the only country in the world to have dropped nuclear bombs on innocent people," had no right to question the right of Iran and North Korea to pursue nuclear technology for "peaceful purposes."
Earlier in the assembly's opening session, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pledged to push for lasting peace in the Middle East and an end to the conflict in Sudan's Darfur region in the coming year, calling it one of the most challenging in the U.N.'s history.
Bush spoke next and announced new sanctions against Myanmar's military dictatorship, accusing it of imposing "a 19-year reign of fear" that denies basic freedoms of speech, assembly and worship. But Bush barely mentioned Iran, a nation he also accuses of helping insurgents who are killing U.S. troops in Iraq. Amadinejad, whose speech at Columbia University on Monday provoked protests, was in the General Assembly chamber for Bush's speech. A U.N. diplomat in the chamber said the Iranian president listened to the secretary-general but pulled out his earpiece before Bush started to speak.

AAAHHHHHHH!!!!! We need to run for the hills........of course this is the objective of ICEJ to propagate fear to facilitate 'end time' events.

Some facts about ICEJ;

The International Christian Embassy, Jerusalem
The Most Influential & Controversial Christian Zionism Agency

1. The Historical Origins of the ICEJ
Of all the Christian Zionist organisations, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) is probably the most influential and controversial. The founding of the International Christian Embassy in 1980 in West Jerusalem near the home of the Israeli Prime Minister, represented the coming of age of Christian Zionism as a high profile, politically astute, international movement. Ironically, it had originally been the home of the family of Dr Edward Said, the distinguished Palestinian-American Anglican academic, before being confiscated in 1948 when it was given to the Jewish philosopher, Martin Buber, then the Chilean embassy before becoming the home of the ICEJ. This itself is a paradigm of the impact Christian Zionists such as the ICEJ have had upon the indigenous Palestinian people and Christian community, in particular.

The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem was formally opened in 1980 by the Jerusalem based committee of the thousand pilgrims who came to the first international Feast of Tabernacles celebration.1

The timing was actually precipitated by the co-ordinated withdrawal of the last few Latin American embassies based in Jerusalem in protest at Israel's continued occupation of East Jerusalem now 'legitimised' by the passing of the Jerusalem Bill by the Knesset in 1980, in which the Jews declared Jerusalem their undivided, eternal capital.

Thirteen embassies moved to Tel Aviv, stating that Israel had violated international law by this decision, and they would not grant legitimacy to such an illegal action. When Chile moved to Tel Aviv, Israel turned the building on Brenner Street over to the International Christian Embassy.2
The ICEJ placed a somewhat different emphasis on these events.

In 1980 Israel declared Jerusalem to be her eternal, undivided capital. In reply, bringing the pressure of an oil boycott to bear, the Arab nations caused 13 countries to remove their embassies from Jerusalem and go down to Tel Aviv. The inspiration to establish a Christian Embassy was given at the time when Israel was celebrating the great annual Feast of Succot. Thereafter each year a Christian Celebration has been held at Succot, pledging loyalty to her charter, "Comfort, Comfort My people." (Isaiah 40:1)3

Their later promotional material elaborates further,

When the vision of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem was first given it was expressed in the following concerns; to care for the Jewish people, especially for the newborn State of Israel which includes standing up for the Jews when they are attacked or discriminated against, and for Israel to live in peace and security.... to care that the world wide body of Christ will be rightly related to Israel in comfort, love and prayer for her well-being, to care for the nations whose destinies will be increasingly linked to the way in which they relate to Israel, the care and preparation for the coming of the Lord.4

In 1985 the ICEJ organised the first International Christian Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, in the same hall used by Theodor Herzl to launch the Zionist movement in 1897.5
In 1993, the ICEJ had an international staff of 50 representing 12 different nationalities, together with a further 250 volunteers who assisted with annual events such as the Feast of Tabernacles Celebration. ICEJ 'ambassadors' also served in over 100 countriesworld-wide through a network of branches, national directors and regional boards working under the authority of its Jerusalem Executive.6 By 1997 the ICEJ claimed to have representatives in 80 countries. The ICEJ draws its support almost exclusively from charismatic and evangelical fundamentalist Christians since, based on their literal interpretation of the Bible, these Christians are said to "...have very warm feelings toward Israel."7 The ICEJ is strongest in the USA, Canada and South Africa, and also in Sweden, Germany and Singapore as well as other European, Asian and Central American countries, experiencing "a tremendous move of the Holy Spirit."8

Poor Palestine

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine

PFLP

12/12/2006

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, known as the PFLP was founded by George Habash, a member of the PLO. Dr. Habash would inspire some of the most gruesome terrorist acts in modern history. He would also train and promote "Carlos the Jackal," an animal whose life we will examine up close and personal.

The PFLP began life as a Marxist organization and over time became Muslim. Like the PLO, the PFLP was an outgrowth of the Arab League. As such Habash's organization was originally called the Arab National Movement. It was formed in Lebanon, where George Habash had studied medicine at the American University in Beirut.

The ANM formed underground branches in Libya, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In June 1967, the ANM merged with Youth for Revenge, the Palestinian Liberation Army, and Ahmed Jibril's Syrian-backed Palestine Liberation Front to form the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

By early 1968, under Dr. Habash's leadership, the PFLP trained several thousand terrorists, most of them Islamic jihadists in bases in Syria and Jordan. And they did not let this training go to waste. The timeline which follows is punctuated with horrid acts of PFLP terrorism. Their bloody hands would soon reach across the world.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the PFLP conducted a series of high-profile terrorist attacks around the world, pioneering the use of airplane hijackings to bring attention to their uncivil and murderous nature. In 1970, the group hijacked four commercial airliners, forcing them to land in Jordan, and eventually blowing them up after evacuating the hostages. This attack led to the "Black September" massacre of tens of thousands of Palestinians in refugee camps by the Jordanian King Hussein in 1970. The dictator expelled all Palestinian organizations from Jordan and created a mass exodus of refugees into Lebanon - ultimately destroying that nation.

In the early 1970s, George Habash's deputy, Wadi Haddad, was recruited by the KGB as an agent. The USSR became a significant money and arms supplier to the PFLP. It was during a time that Marxist Muslims controlled much of the Middle East.

In 1976, despite a PLO agreement to end terrorism outside of Israel, PFLP operatives and German Baader-Meinhof terrorists hijacked an airliner that was famously rescued by Israeli commandos in Entebbe, Uganda. That story, which features Idi Amin, the maddest Muslim murderer on the planet at the time, is featured in the 1976 Islamic Terror Timeline.

But the secular nature of the PFLP was its undoing. Over time, Islam became much more fundamentalist with the jihadists carrying the day. So the PFLP was forced to merge into Yasser Arafat's PLO in late 1968, becoming the organization's second largest faction behind Fatah. The PFLP partially withdrew from the PLO in 1974 but rejoined in 1981.

As an independent entity, the PFLP essentially ceased to exist after the First Intifada called by Fatah and the subsequent Oslo Accords. They became just another acronym to which Yasser Arafat could outsource terror without implicating himself. By the 1996 Palestinian elections, the PFLP was irrelevant because the fundamentalist Islamic HAMAS was winning converts at an alarming pace. Their ever-popular suicide bombings and Saudi/Kuwaiti social services had been irresistible.

What's ironic about the PFLP, and its stated desire to "liberate Palestine" from the Jews, is that there never would have been a Jewish state in Israel had the Islamic leadership (the Grand Mahdi (also known as the Mufti) of Jerusalem) not sided with the Nazis. He cut a deal with Adolf Hitler to supply Muslims for service in the Satanic order of the SS, so long as Hitler agreed to prevent Jews outside of Germany from leaving those countries. This action doubled the Holocaust death toll. As a consequence, the world (with the Islamic fiefdoms voting against and the UK abstaining) voted to establish the state of Israel.

In March 2006, citing security concerns, U.S. and U.K. security forces pulled out of the West Bank. Almost immediately, Israeli forces launched a raid on the jail in Jericho where Sa'dat was being held. The Israeli government was fearful that the newly elected HAMAS government would set him free. As such, the Israelis captured Sa'dat along with several other suspects in the murder, and brought him to Israel for trial. A second-generation PFLP member, Sa'dat has already spent ten years in Israeli prisons stemming from various terrorist charges. But his incarceration really doesn't matter because the Marxist Muslim PFLP has been eclipsed in favor of salafi Islamist groups. You just can't beat religion when it comes to deceit, destruction, and death

Carey, What are you doing to promote Christ's peace? How are you revealing his love through this hate propaganda? Just imagine if all followers of Christ, walked and lived the example given us.....well just imagine. We might do well to look at ourselves, focus on our actions and deeds as Christian, instead of passing judgement on others. If one is faithful and truly trust our Lord and Savior we have no need to fear of anything or anyone. Put your mustard seed to work and be that shining beacon of light this world so desperately needs.

Reduce suffering with military?! How is that in any way promoting peace or Christ's message?! From what we have seen in past and present, this only incites more violence and conflict. No, peace is not spread by the sword.

Thas right no lasting peace.

But let me ask you a question . Are you familiar with world war 2??
Did Japan become a peaceful nation after we kicked their butt??
Did the world for many years become peace and did the world war stop??
War is a necessary part of life until Christ returns.
Matthew 24 : 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

Sure the war ended, but with the dropping of 2 nuclear bombs and the deaths of millions of innocent civilians. As for many years of peace, you must be dreaming- ever heard of Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War (which I know wasn't an actual war but was barely a state of peace), plus plenty of local skirmishes I'm sure I've missed.

As for the scripture you quoted, it describes virtually any time in human history. There have always been wars and rumours of wars. Sure we hear about them more today with mass media and the like, but I don't see any evidence there are actually more wars today then at any other time in history. And besides that, the scripture doesn't speak of an increase of rumours and wars, just that there will be wars and rumours of wars.

Blessings to you all

As SemperFidelis mentioned, yes the war did end, with a mass nuclear attack and death. And peace? Hardly a lasting peace, perhaps a false one considering all the wars that followed. If one thing remains clear it is that wars breed only more wars.

It's easy to look at something like WW II and be critical of the Allies for bombing Dresden or Hiroshima. But how did those conflicts, start; who was responsible?

Many of the evil regimes over the millenia have one thing in common: a tyrant for whom every evil act possible is justified- lying, stealing, murdering; anything contrary to what God wants. Adolph Hitler, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden all subscribe to the same immoral code- a code that is only honoured by one entity- satan himself.

So they are all soldiers of the devil, who have no respect for anything good. Christians are a humble lot, always willing to forgive and forget, and to see the good in someone. But we need to be careful not to be fooled by these soldiers of the devil who have nothing but evil on their hearts, but will do anything they can to convince us otherwise.

In John 8, Jesus gave us an example of how we should recognize and confront evil when he bluntly told the Pharisees:

44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Think about this the next time you see a world leader lying through his teeth, and supporting all manner of evil deeds, and ask yourself: who is his commander?. You should ask that question of anyone you run across that justifies evil and is unrepentent: a lier, a fornicator, a murderer, a thief, all have the same thing in common: they all think that evil deeds are o.k, because they all follow the devil.

Much of the blame of World War II can be laid at the feet of the Allies at the end of World War I, who wrote such a severe surrender treaty at Versailles for the German people. Punishments such as £6.6 of repayments, annexing of much of Germany, the War Guilt clause etc provided perfect ground for German nationalism (Hitler et al) to build upon and to gain popular support. Maybe had we been more lenient on them, Hitler may never have got into power after all
