CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been in two years and some change, you should like it.
When I was in basic combat training I was very open with my Faith, and though I was constantly busy, there was always enough downtime to pray silently for myself. I found that it was a very spiritual experience in many ways.
Lose yourself in the act of training, and at the same time, you can really become closer to God.
You'll do well.

I will so have to agree with the above. I am in the Air Force and have been in for a little over 4 years now. I have been in Iraqi over 2 years of my enlistment (a blessed experience). While being in the military, you change. For me, it has been all good!!! I came to know Jesus, myself, and the military more. As you hear it all the time, you are not just becoming a member of the military, but you are becoming a solider of Christ. You will love how the Lord works His wondering during your enlistment. I am blessed that He has given me the opportunity to share my love for Him with the people I work with.
Anyhoo, congrats and welcome to the military. Enjoy your time in and keep the Lord in your heart throughout the goods and bads. =)
