  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This one is near and dear to my heart. I often recited this to myself on convoys and patrols in Iraq. The Lord ever guided, watched over, and protected every Soldier on every convoy and foot patrol I went on (and there were many with many close calls). Praise Him!

God bless, DesertSAPPER, :groupray:
Psalm 24:7
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of Glory shall come in.

This is the fave Bible Chapter of Peter Furler, Newsboys' lead singer...:)
take time to read and be in awe of GOD :angel:
Psalm 139

1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

3Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

20For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

One of the first psalms I ever read was psalm 63, and it felt like it was speaking to me specifically. I think it is one of the most beautiful psalms ever written.

Psa 63:1 O God, you are my God, and I long for you.
My whole being desires you;
like a dry, worn-out, and waterless land,
my soul is thirsty for you.
Psa 63:2 Let me see you in the sanctuary;
let me see how mighty and glorious you are.
Psa 63:3 Your constant love is better than life itself,
and so I will praise you.
Psa 63:4 I will give you thanks as long as I live;
I will raise my hands to you in prayer.
Psa 63:5 My soul will feast and be satisfied,
and I will sing glad songs of praise to you.
Psa 63:6 As I lie in bed, I remember you;
all night long I think of you,
Psa 63:7 because you have always been my help.
In the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
Psa 63:8 I cling to you, and your hand keeps me safe.
Psa 63:9 Those who are trying to kill me
will go down into the world of the dead.
Psa 63:10 They will be killed in battle,
and their bodies eaten by wolves.
Psa 63:11 Because God gives him victory,
the king will rejoice.
Those who make promises in God's name will praise him,
but the mouths of liars will be shut. (GNB)

This is a great prayer of redemption I read today...:prayer:

Psalm 85 3-9

You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.
Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us.
Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.
I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints— but let them not return to folly.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.

Psalm 27:13-14

I would have lost heart
unless I had believed
That I would see the
goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living

Wait on the Lord
Be of good courage
And He shall strengthen
your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalm 103:
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.

Psalem 23:1-6
The Lord is my shepherd ; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea , though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Coming from the King James.
