Psalms 119

17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. 19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

~ Psalm 14:4-6 ~ Will evildoers never learn - those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD? There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

Wow, this soooo spoke to me today! Brought back memories actually of just how the Lord works in the heart of man.

Right after our breakup, I was being threatened, through my ex, by someone that thought I had talked about them and caused alot of problems. This was pretty serious stuff, but I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. Nevertheless, my ex was spazzing, so I told him to have his 'friend' call me and I'd talk to them directly. I was just on my way out to do some grocery shopping, but I said I would wait for the call. Once off the phone, I said to my son, we need to sit and pray right now that the Lord intervene here, cause it sounds like lots of trouble brewing. We prayed and I just committed the whole situation into God's hands.

Well, after waiting for 15-20 minutes and getting no call, I phoned my ex again to say so. Let me tell you, I was exuberant with his response! Apparently, he relayed my message and his 'friend' said, he wanted nothing to do with me because I was only going to mess him up. My ex took this to mean that I was going to harm the guy, and said he couldn't understand why they would be afraid of me.

I knew right then that the Lord had heard my prayer and 'spoken' on my behalf. What an awesome opportunity to sing the praises of the Lord! I explained that what they were afraid of was the fact that they knew that they weren't just dealing with me, but that they were dealing with God. They knew I was walking with the Lord, and God had impressed upon their heart a fear for Him. My ex scoffed then, but he sings a different tune now.

Needless to say, I've never heard another word or had any problems because ... There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. Yaaaaah, Jesus!

LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

I can rest in the loving arms of God knowing He has saved me - He has lifted me from the miry clay and set my foot on solid ground. God has a plan and a purpose for my life and is guidiing me every step of the way, and when I have accomplished all that He has for me here, He will call me home where I'll see Him face to face. ​

This is a wonderful way to respond to God under pressure...He heard your prayers for sure...I am sorry to hear of the circumstances in your life and marriage tho. Still...your light is shining...

I love you, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Praise be to the God of my salvation. The Lord looked down on me and had pity on me. He heard my heart's cry and he rescued me from the grave, because He loved me. Even in my sin, even not knowing Him, He loved me - He delights in me. I am amazed at this. Amazed! ​

This is probably my most favorite of the Psalms. It speaks of God's goodness radiating throughout the earth in ways everyone can hear ... if we will only listen. ​

For the king trusts in the LORD; ​

through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.​

David is praising and and acknowledging the Lord's goodness toward him. We, too, can take these words and apply them to our own personally circumstances and give God the glory for all He has done, and continues to do in our lives.​
