Acts 2:25 (Psalm 16:8), quoted above, speaks of how Jesus kept the Father always before Him. In the book of John, we see that Jesus only did or said what the Father did or said first (John 4:34; 5:17, 19, 30; 6:38; 7:16, 18; 8:16, 26, 29, 38, 40, 42, 50, 55; 9:4; 12:49; 14:10, 24, 31) . In Jesus' ministry, He kept the Father always before Him, always following what the Father was doing. This, I believe, is the secret of ministry--to follow Jesus, always, just as He followed the Father:

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me, and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor."
--John 12:26​

1 Corinthians 2:2

2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Hebrews speaks about moving passed doctrine and onto the Living Savior. With the focus on Jesus who is the goal, author and finisher of our faith.

Work out your own salvation as a Christ follower. It will determine your place in the Kingdom. Not by works but by faith in Him. Complete salvation remains in Christ only.

Yes, the book of Hebrews directs us to Christ. This was the verse I clung to when I was very ill:

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the Father.

I like this verse even better in the NIV, for it says: Fix your eyes on Jesus.

I was extremely ill. It was difficult for me to focus on anything. Yet I found that when I directed my thoughts to my Lord--how He loved me, how He called me precious, how He said I was His own--I got better. But like Peter, if I took my eyes off of Jesus, I started sinking fast!

I would remind myself that Peter walked on water as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. I decided that if walking on water was possible by fixing your eyes on Jesus, then healing was possible, too.

And I got well.
