This is probably a really stupid question but... here goes anyway. My husband is having some problems with my conversion. Obviously, I need to talk with my priest about that. But, there are other problems with my marriage, too--should I be talking to him about them? They are not spiritual problems, strictly speaking. I feel like talking to him about these things puts him more in the role of psychologist, but that's not what he is.

Help! :(

Since marriage itself is a sacrament, I don't see any reason why your priest couldn't help you with marital problems that don't directly relate to religion. :)

Well, I think he is a psychologist....he is a spiritual psychologist who is there for our healing. I think that you should share what is in your mind, and just go with the flow....
I certainly have this problem too (hubby having problem with my conversion and other issues in the marriage.) Since I haven't been baptised I can't go to Confession yet, but I do have an appointment to talk to Fr. this week about some of these things. I'll tell you what: I'll go first if you want and tell you how it went???
Love,
Suzannah

I think Suzannah and Matrona have given good advice. If you should not discuss it with your priest, I am sure he will let you know and advise you on what you should do WRT resolving the issues. If you should go to him and don't, how will you know :)

I think it's good to talk to priests about anything. They have tons of training and are generally really good people to talk to. I've talked to priests a lot about things that aren't strickly spiritual and they have been great helps. The thing is, if you think about it, anything that is troubling you affects your spritial life. Remember, your life isn't categorized into "church life" and "normal life" - or spiritual life is part of every aspect of our life.

Good points, all. Thanks. And Suzannah, I would take you up on your offer, but my meeting with Fr. Marcus is this afternoon!

Whew! I was scared I'd have to make good...^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Feel free to send me a pm anytime.....trust me, nothing is worse than having an exMormon husband who takes pot shots at the Church every chance he gets...

Dear Suzannah:

Have you read CULTIST AT MY DOOR An Orthodox Examiniation of THE MORMONS and the JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES? This booklet is published by Concilar Press and written by Father John W. Morris.

Lovingly in Christ,
Elizabeth

A good point. This is something I tend to struggle with. I think there is a strong tendancy, at least here in the States, to compartmentalize our lives. I have so many different faces...at work, as mom, etc etc ...
