Please share your wisdom.

Have you read an incredible book, that just so changed your thinking, or heard a sermon etc.
Or even something you've learned by meditating on the Word, that you're bursting to share.

I know that all wisdom comes from God:

Ephesians 1:17-20
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead...

But it also say's here that we are to pursue it ourselves, (we don't just sit and wait for God to drop it all into our minds.)

Proverbs 4:5-8
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her...

Please pass it on (wisdom bytes)

Mostly I'm interested in Authors/Books. But your understanding and sharing of ohh, maybe hard sayings of Jesus etc will bless us too.

Thank you

I would make "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis mandatory reading for all Christians if I had the power. (Perhaps that's why I don't have that kind of power.)

I'm currently reading "Sophia House" by Michael D. O'Brien, which is a prequel to a couple other of his books which I hear are also excellent. (Several reviews have said to leave behind "Left Behind" and read O'Brien.) Sophia House so far is thoughtful and totally without pretension.

On deck is "Canticle for Liebowitz," a novel that a friend of mine said I should read or else become an illiterate poser.

Much of C.S. Lewis's works should be on a "mandatory" reading list, at least once. Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain. I know it gets mixed press, but Wild at Heart should be a must read for men, and reccommended for women as well. Chip Ingram's The Invisible War is an absolutely great book on spiritual warfare, and he backs up almost everything he says with contextual scripture references.

2. "The 10 Dumbest Things Christians Do" by Mark Atteberry

3. "Countdown: Jerusalem" by John Hagee

Backed with scripture references, now that sounds like my kind of book.
Thanks for sharing yodafett.

Sound like great reads Imana.
Thank you.
I wish everyone would read about how to deal with offense!

Thank you Humbleman and KJVis
and EOE.

I am currently reading, "Foolproofing your life" which has been a blessing. The author has a way of bringing some things to light that I hadn't realised in myself as well as how to deal with very difficult people.

Thanks for the answers.

Oh, and for an excellent book on politics, family, baseball and religion, you absolutely must read "The Brothers K," (not to be confused with "The Brothers Karamazov," which I am told is also excellent). I've read "The Brothers K" about four times, and I, a man who detests the loss of control over one's emotions, have cried like a little baby girl every time. It's that powerful. And the scenes where the oldest son, an atheist, and the Seventh Day Adventist mother fight over religion will have you howling with laughter. This book should be in the canon of American literature next to Hemmingway and Steinbeck.

Speaking with God from the Depths of the Heart, by Saint Gregory of Narek. This is a book I would recommend for advance readers. We are fortunate enough that someone has published the entire book on the internet here
http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/.
I also would recommend reviewing the topic section for specific sections.
http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/topik.php

Saint Gregory is a 10th century Saint. Here is a brief intro.
http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/intro.php

His writings and prayers were so influenicial that the RCC had adopted Saint Gregorys marian prayers into there services.

Where is History Going? and The Shape of the Past, John Warwick Montgomery.
These are great collections of essays providing an apologetic and philosophical defense of Christianity. Have only read some the essays, but the ones I've read would like to re-read.

How Should We Then Live?,
Francis Schaeffer.
An excellent historical survey of Western culture covering a lot of ground from art, history, philosophy, theology, music, and more, and all presented from a Christian perspective.

This is great biography of Martin Luther.

Pascal’s Pensees.
Read a good portion of this. Especially recommend the “Against Indifference" section. It’s very powerful.

The Pilgrim’s Regress, C.S. Lewis.
This is a good allegorical account of C.S. Lewis’s journey of faith.

Pontius Pilate and The Flames of Rome, Paul Maier.
These are great historical novels, and based as closely as possible on documented historical sources.
