  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Boring electronics pictures, but there are a few here who might be interested (almost posted this in the nerds thread)...

Had to 'pop the hood' on the GFA-555 (home audio amplifier), since the right channel quit on me. Apparently it didn't like a 20Hz test tone when trying to drive a 4 Ohm 10" Dayton sub. There's no doubt that this amp can handle it - but it turns out that a fuse on one of the circuit boards was undersized, so had been blown. Must have been blown at one other point in time, and was replaced with a smaller fuse, so that's why the channel went out. Replaced with a proper size fuse and its good as gold again.

Did a visual check on the power caps, since they're known to leak. Not a design flaw - they're electrolytic caps, and all electrolytic caps have a life time. This amp is over 20 years old, and the caps still look good (visually) - no bulging or leaking.
