I was gonna do it for you, but alas...I got the same message...

I tell ya, for those of use who only use the rep button very sparingly...it's not a fair system. I do understand why it's set up that way, to prevent abuse...but it doesn't change the fact that I often can't rep those posts I really want to!

In reading a great little Puritan Paperback, The Secret Key to Heaven by Thomas Brooks I found this little tale:

I have read a story, how that one offered to give his horse to his fellow, upon condition he would but say the Lord's Prayer, and think upon nothing but God; the offer was accepted, and he began, '"Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name," ' But I must have the bridle too' , he said. 'No, nor the horse neither', said the other, 'for you have lost both already.' The application is easy.

Great story which reminds me of how very difficult it is to keep my concentration fully on God when I'm praying. It is such a great discipline and hard work but so rewarding!

“As sure as God puts His children in the furnace he will be in the furnace with them”

C.H. Spurgeon

OH, I like that one...and I don't have the blessings to put it in my sig!

It particularly struck a cord this morning, since I just finished reading a thread in the pentecostal section about God's Will, and there are a few who absolutely believe that God's Will is ALWAYS healing---I just don't know how they get around the fact that God doesn't always heal, without blaming the person for not having enough faith.....anyway, everytime I hear someone say something like that, I'm always reminded that God does not ever promise a perfect life on this earth, in fact, he promises a harder life! And sometimes that included illness......

this quote sums it up perfectly!

oh man, have you ever brought up something I stuggle with mightily! Just this morning in my prayers, I kept losing my concentration and thinking on other things while I was trying to pray. I've just started the practice of early morning devotionals and prayer...and I'm hoping(no, PLANNING ;)) that my prayers become much more focused and clear.

I've always been one of those people who just pray throughout the day, a little here and a little there--but I've never developed the habit of sitting down and really spending time in prayer. I'm finding it incredibly hard.:(
