  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I see his face on Gold Bond commercials. I have no idea what sport he plays (played?), but I am sure he was (is) in sports. I'm just not into sports at all.

But this is what I know: every time I see that man's face, I smile. Nearly grin! He just seems like a nice guy. Does anyone know what kind of man he really is? Just curious about him because of my reaction to him.

He retired from basketball in the NBA and as far as I have ever seen has been a very likeable guy and involved in a number of charities - particularly children's charities. He goes back to LSU each year to host a charity golf tournament to help student-athletes that don't go pro prepare for life after college. I read that he was physically abused by his father when he was a child, but still loves and supports his dad. I have not heard anything bad but am sure he has a few things in his past he likely regrets. My understanding is that he is a Muslim but I don't know how active he is with his faith.
