  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i'm fourteen years of age and although i'm at a young age ive come to realize that everyone around me and everyone i know will die probably while i'm still alive. life is so cruel and so is mankind. it seems that when i die, life goes on for everyone. that i am significant. i pray that someone will answer my prayers and help me to be more optimistic about life. right now it seems that i live, then i die, then go to heavan for eternity; which seems like an awful long time.

Yeah, me too, but if you were living a few thousand years ago you would be middle aged right now. A hundred years ago 50 was old. Now we see people living to their 80's and 90's. So you have it much better than nearly everyone who has ever lived.

Think of this, too: a few generations ago 1 in 4 babies died at birth, and quite often so did their mother. The very fact that you are alive is something to celebrate. Check out Stephen Hawking. He can't move, can't speak...but he has done amazing things with his life. How much more could you do with yours? What could you contribute? Yeah, we are all going to die - me sooner than you, probably, but it's not about death. We all share that. It's about what you do with the 80+ years you get.

Live to serve others:
1Peter 4:10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received

Live to Worship God:
Luke 4:8 -Jesus answered him, "It is written, "Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.' "

Live to experience God's joy
1Peter 1:8 Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,

Live to Share God with others
Mark 16:15 And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.

You are still very young and you have so much ahead of you. Pray to your Lord and ask Him to help you find your way in this broken world and ask how you can make a difference. When you think of others and how you can make thier lives better, you will find joy and purpose. Start out by finding out how you can help those who have suffered so greatly from those tsunami in Asia.

You sound depressed. Try not to focus only on death. Know also that one day both you and most of the people your age will be parents and will raise children.

live everyday like it is your last, and leave a very positive impression on all those around you, so you can say you left a positive impact on those around you after your gone, I think of all the friends and loved ones that have left me behind on thier altimate journey and those that left positive impacts are the ones I remember most fondly, those that smiled, lived life to its fullest, and brought great joy to me and many others

It sounds like you need to get out of your own head. I suggest doing something that takes the focus off yourself, like volunteering. Since your concern is death-related, maybe volunteering at a retirement home would help both you and them.

Want to be really bummed? The heaven part isn't really true! Yup, you just die and that's it! How's that for a new perspective.

Now think about how important every minute of your life is. Don't spend even one of them thinking depressing thoughts. Plan on doing something great with your life and then do it! Get off your 14 y.o. butt and start finding a way to make an impact on the world.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Before accepting Jesus, I was terrified and very depressed about death. I would get up in the morning, grab a cigarette and go to the porch and think about how I am getting older and death will be here soon. Sometimes I would wake myself thinking I was dying right then and there. Scary.

All I can say now is that Jesus has taken that away. I don't look forward to the process of dying, as sometimes it can really be painful but I very much look forward to the day that God calls me home. I would like to be around long enough for my daughter to be grown and able to take care of herself but I am looking forward to it. Now don't get me wrong, I love my life. I try and enjoy it to the fullest. But I know that something so much better is waiting. And it will never be cut short. No more pain. No more sorrow. No more tears. Just happiness and Jesus! Please spend some time in prayer to find out the purpose of your life. Make sure you are in Jesus and then relax. Enjoy what you have been given. Believe me when I say that it only gets better. At your age, it can sometimes be a real drag but one day you will have kids and a life you have created for yourself with the help of Jesus. I wish I had found Him at such a young age. It could have given me many years of peace. God bless.

Whatever you do, don't bother listening to such imbecilic comments like this one. They are not worth even worrying about.

Yes, I believe we are all insignificant. 100,000 humans wiped out in a second in the Asian psunami, who will quickly be replaced by the high fertility rate in Asia, who will then die and be replaced again. Billions are dead since the first humans walked the Earth. And everyone living now will also be dead in 100 years. And then in one billion years the Sun will burn out and Earth will leave its orbit and fly into the sun and be crushed with all life on it. And humanity will end.

Cheers!

Most life on earth will probably have freezed to death by then, don't you think? However by that time humanity will probably have moved into a safer place. Like space. Anyway, the important thing to remember is that even though you're going to die, everyone you love will die before you, so you'll carry that sorrow when you die alone lying in the cold slippery street with a broken hip.

You know, suicide solves that problem. What, it's true.

life is so cruel and so is mankind.
What, does "life" have a grudge against you? Is it out to 'get' you? Did you **** it off or something?

it seems that when i die, life goes on for everyone. that i am significant.

Life went on after Jesus died, was He insignificant as well? Life goes on, because ppl are still alive. What do you think happens when you die? "Oh no! Whoeverthehellyouare is dead! Now we have to kill ourselves as well!"

right now it seems that i live, then i die, then go to heavan for eternity; which seems like an awful long time.
At least you got the order right.

So you hastened it by smoking...

5 billion actually. It's not a pressing concern.

My view on life is to find satisfaction and joy during your lifetime in your own unique way. In my case I've never feared death itself - I fear dying after wasting my life. Try making something of your life. Heh, I'm a teenager myself, so I still remember thinking about mortality a lot.
