  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We can't get out of jury duty here without a pretty good excuse too. You just can't say 'no'.

Hmm... did I see somewhere that you were going to Burleigh fellow S.E. Queenslander, or have you been? Either way, no fair!!! Just went GREEN with envy (yeah, I do know that God's 'banned' envy, hehe! - I'll just call it 'virtual' envy, maybe...) *chuckles*

Hey Shadow!
So... I'm getting ready for my finals and I'm recording all of my readings onto my computer, so I can listen to them instead of reading them... I hope that it helps. Maybe I'll even listen WHILE I read. But I really need to know my stuff for Geography. I hope it works the way... well, the way I hope it works.

Hey Bondman, welcome to the cafe - great to see you here . I was indeed down at beautiful Burleigh Heads (also going down there next year for two weeks again *ducks for cover * ).

It's been a few years since I've been asked to do jury duty (and then it was only once) which is why I probably forgot the reason bit. When I did receive "the invitation" I said no because of my religious belief.

Wow, at Burleigh on the spectacular Gold Coast at this beautiful time of year (well not counting the lack of rain). That is 'disgusting'. You will not be forgiven 'less you organise to take us next year! *makes strong pronouncement!* *then realises it can't happen...*

Yep, that's one of the reasons to get out of jury duty. Health is another. And there are many others for specific groups of people I seem to remember. We've said No to them on health grounds so many times that I think we may have been put on the 'don't bother bugging them' list, which is perfectly fine by us!

Hey, Greenthumb!

Great to see you. Haven't seen you posting in ages!! Guess we must be in different threads.

Below is not as green as all of your 'green'! Australia is the driest continent on earth, so we're more browns and yellows mixed with the greens here. It's a pic of our back yard at the moment, planted with Aussie flowering trees and shrubs to bring in our wonderful bush birds and other critters. But our 5 year drought has us on such heavy water restrictions that we can't give them enough water to ensure their survival - by the end of the year (if no rain) most if it may be dead! *not a happy thought...*

Hello Green ! I had a lovely vacation although with the exception of three days (both Sundays and one Wednesday which was a public holiday) there were workmen building a new apartment block next door from 6:30am - 4:00pm. Asides from the construction, vacation was great. One afternoon there was the most beautiful sunset - the clouds were all pink and orange.

I hope you have a good week too Green.
