• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Ack! I sometimes have these very sexual dreams at night. I am bisexual and they inevitably contain same-sex content sometimes. :o I know it's a sin but what can I do to make the dreams stop? I have prayed about it before but I still get the dreams! :sigh:

Don't worry! Your dreams are not a sin. A sin is something that you can control and your dreams are not something that you can control right now. It's perfectly natural to have sexual dreams. Don't condem yourself for this, you didn't do anything wrong. If these dreams are bothering you just continue to pray about it. Your sexuality is a gift, not something dirty or bad, but it's probably something thats been worrying you a bit and that could explain your dreams. Just keep asking God for peace. It's OK :)

Dreams often reflect something of our inner state and therefore won't go away by prayer, any more than a bulging waistline will by prayer alone. You will need to try and understand what yorudreams are telling you. It's a bit like poetry - dreams use images to convey meaning.

I would like to add in addition that if we feed our minds on scripture during the day and night, that if we pray for God to watch over us at night and in our dreams He can do that. That has been my experience.:) We can include Him wherever we want to, day or night.

I have some pretty messed up dreams from time to time too. I try to think of them as just dreams. Even if they are some secret desires, etc. we can control our actions when we are awake, and that's all that really matters. I try praying before I go to sleep for God to watch over my dreams. Sometimes it helps, but since it's a fallen world, our dreams might reflect that at times as well.

Don't you blame yourself for what you dream. I have seriously jacked up dreams. But that's all they are. Dreams. Sure maybe you can figure out some reason why you dream what you dream, but I don't think that changes the fact that it doesn't matter.

Thank you Mr. Cheese.

Being bisexual is a sin but having dreams isn't. So long as you guard against homosexual lust or activities in your waking life you haven't sinned, IMHO.

I don't necessarily believe that being bisexual is a sin so much as bisexual same-sex activities are a sin. Anyway, that's just my personal opinion.

Thing is, I have asked God to protect me from these dreams and stuff but I still sometimes have the dreams. :sigh: I know I can't really keep the dreams from happening but they still make me feel guilty.
