I haven't read all of the discussion since there was so much and time is limited, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I think it is wrong because it is a gift given to married couples to express a physical love for eachother only and consumate their marriage.  Also to bear children which God intends to be under marriage so there the child can be reared well.

Also, I think if you have premarrital sex, then there is a high likeliness that you won't make it to marriage and you'll end up having multiple partnes.  When you have sex, the two become one flesh and join to eachother.  God doesn't want you to be joined to multiple people (unless widowed).

People who think it is ok are fooling themselves and trying to make themselves feel better for going against God's wishes (I was one of them).  It's immoral and not his design for us.

I don't have any feelings for something I don't believe in. I think YOU'RE trying to make yourself feel better because you believe in god and you have that itchy perpetual guilt feeling about your oh-so immoral life that either exists in your head as a form of mind-bending by the religously inclined or because you had that one night stand with Tammy, the waitress at the stop-off café in 1983...

You don't believe in God?

Perpetual guilt is a tool of the devil.  The blood of Jesus washes my sins away and I do repent.  I'm sorry for the wrongs I have done and do, but they are always forgiven me because of my faith, trust, and repentance in Jesus and God.

His plan is quite simple and his gift easy to get.  I just don't see why people wouldn't accept it.

Well the comment isn't directed at me but I fit in on the description, so what do you mean?

Well I'm glad that you are content with your beliefs. I hope you don't struggle in the future with them

People understand the message, but they don't buy the messenger.

:sigh:  Sorry to hear that.  Hope one day you'll be called to him.  Why are you participating on a christian forum then?  Are you attempting to disprove the christian belief or are you seeking something?

Actually I just went through a big struggle with my beliefs.  I was a catholic and just got my wife converted to it.  Then a few months later it was like my eyes were opened and I saw God's truth.  He showed me the errors in my beliefs and showed me to depend fully on his word.  He has given me so much help as I study and some great people to aid me.

Now since I know God more, I won't be turning away or having problems in the future.  I still have many questions that I'm trying to find answers to, but I'm firmly grounded in him

I'm not seeking anything. I enjoy debating and this forum has some neat features, which makes coming back a must. Try some of the games when you get the necessary blessings.

The Bible never says polygamy is wrong, man says that. Paul tells deacons and church officials to be husbands of but one wife, but that is for their own benefit, so that they may focus completely on their calling. He even advises that they not get married. Man seems to distort his belief with that of God, and that is quite silly in my mind. God does not think like we do. Someone mentioned in a previous post that "things that were wrong long ago are now fine", well...fine to WHOM? Not to God! Not at all! God is unchanging in His personality and rules. He will not change a law without fulfilling it first. He fulfilled many laws with Jesus Christ, but Jesus told us to flee sexual immorality...you say that the Bible does not deifne that, well I disagree. He tells us not to be joined with prostitutes and He also tells us that if we can not have enough self control to keeo from lusting that we should get married, because it is better to marry than to burn. It is very clear to me. I actually started this post to see what you ghuys thought I should do about my friend, but this conversation is cool too.

Blessings,

FOMWatts<><

This is a very good post. I just thought I'd say that. :)

Well, I'll also say that I agree. There are too many liberal Christians out there who attempt to distort the Bible's meaning in order for them to do what they feel like doing. If you're an atheist then that's one thing, but really, Christians should know better; seriously. You shouldn't even need the Bible to tell you. If you think you have the Holy Ghost then you should know that way and there is no excuse.

But for those people that require a mountain of evidence before changing a practice, there is implied biblical evidence that fornication is a sin. Just because it's not explicit doesn't mean it's not there.

Sure you aren't searching for a higher truth out there?

It's not strange really. I'm friends with Christians, so it's nothing new to come and interact with some. I like the social debates, News & Current Affairs. There are lots of subjects, which can be debated without God. I'm not seeking anything from being here and no one both here and offline have convinced me that there is a God.

Ya, this forum is pretty cool.  I'm starting to enjoy it!

But it's wierd you want to keep company in the presence of holy people just for the heck of it.  Sure you aren't searching for a higher truth out there?

Holy people? We all got skeletons in our closets...

A person believing and recieving of God's message and gift is holy (special to God) and a saint (all those who go to heaven are saints).

Of coarse we're all dirty, but those repenting and believeing are washed clean by Jesus's blood.

Personally, i think recieving God is a whole life changing process.  It should affect every aspect of life.  We should pray continually and abstain from pleasures of the flesh.  Knowing this, I'd think that people who really want to please God should work to root out all of the evil they can out of their daily life.  I don't think it's necessarily the way to go to heaven, but it is the way to please God as best we can.  If you have TRUE faith and love, then you will want to do this.  For instance, not watching as much or no bad tv shows, same with music.  Not getting drunk, scoping out chicks if you're married, etc. etc.

Of coarse everyone slips up and we are still forgiven provided we repent.

You might think a person hasn't changed, when indeed their heart has and they praise God in private.  But I think they should serve as an example of how a servant of God should live.  Hard to say for certain on who is definately saved for that is judging when only God (and Jesus) is the judge.  Just emulate God's will is the best advice I can give.
