Discovering facts and the interpretation of those facts are two different things. The interpretation of the facts presented by scientist who are atheists are slanted towards their world belief of atheism.

...
Yes, theists often say this.

What passes for "science" these days is just laughable. They can not say anything meaningful about something 39 light years away. It's just not possible. But, they can speculate enough to keep the money rolling in, so that's a plus.

Still does nothing for, or against Christians either way.

That's exactly what I'm saying, I was posing that toward Jason since he seems to think that finding another Earth would be impossible because the Bible claims it is.

Don't you think that maybe Genesis said God created the heavens and the Earth because there's only one planet out there called Earth (our own)? How does that rule out any other planets with the potential for life?

I can tell you don't know much about astronomy.

I think the excitement is not that humans could live there, but planets in that zone could possibly have oceans. Meaning the possibility of finding actual 'alien life' is higher then say one of the planets in our solar system.

And there is that, too. However, alien life does not exist. The encounters with aliens that have taken place here upon this Earth are all demonic deceptions. I remember watching a program that said that a person smelled brimstone when they had an alien encounter. The same thing has been reported with the appearances of ghosts, too. Brimstone is associated with hell in the Bible. In other words, if it sounds like a duck, chances are it is a duck. Then there is the owl thing. In the Bible, sometimes the appearance of the word "owls" is in reference to demons. This is crazy because there was a movie that came out called "The Fourth Kind" that links owls with alien encounters. Well, I seen the trailer and not the film, but this is what the trailer's selling point was all about. In fact, I had seen a video from a Pastor about a year or so before I had seen this movie trailer whereby the Pastor preached briefly about how the eyes of an owl are similar in appearance like the eyes of the grey aliens.

My path allows me freedom of thought so I don't have to worry about being frightened by new discoveries. But I also don't really believe that any aliens have ever visited our planet, so we agree there, although I don't think they are demonic deceptions hehe.

The discovery is interesting, that is about the extent of my...ummm...interest. Have a good day Agent Jason!

Big assumption that NASA (never a straight answer) is telling even a kernel of truth, I think there are philosophically bounded parameters we have to meet in order to visit and play in our celestial backyard.

1) We would need to be a planet of people, not a bunch of different nations existing and fighting each other for resources. When every human is designated as human (not [insert racial/cultural/national moniker here],) then that begins the first step.

2) We need to become a "warp" society. In other words, we need to publically, and globally be at a point at which we can drive ships at, or very near the speed of light. The technology exists now, but it isn't for public consumption. The world would have to be "warp," not just the respective black op branches of governments.

3. The entire planet would need to have their energy needs met such that poverty, hunger, homelessness and other pitiful states are nearly nonexistent. This exists now, also - but free energies are not for public consumption yet. We are still under oil delusion.

4) Once we are "warp," or near warp, we would need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of periodic activity in our solar system. In other words, our science would have to take a gargantuan leap to reflect a mastery of understanding of our own "backyard."

5) We would need planetary defense systems. Again, we have this already, but it need to have global consciousness of existence attached to it. Collective consciousness is important in interstellar travel.

6) The integrity of our species must take a gargantuan leap - or we will need to make sure we can build our technology at a pace that inversely matches our failures in our species (and, therefore intergalactic diplomacy.)

7) We will need to understand dimensional travel on a fundamental basis. Again, we know about it but it isn't something all people on this planet even believes exists. One theoretical way to travel FTL is to "grease" the boundary of a ship with exotic matter, and send it through a dimensional bridge (the exotic matter lubricates the friction of the space, LT, and FTL travel - as well as isolates the ship in an exotic stasis so that there are no mass and energy problems.)

8) If we get to 70% of those things, we will likely be visited by other entities first before we take our first real trip. Now, some would argue that other entities have already visited throughout the history of time. For example, I believe most UFOs people see are actually reverse engineered technology from terrestrial governments.

We would have a long way to go before we reach FTL on a consumer knowledge basis.

Technically, FTL isnt as effective as dimensional jumps (warp is technically a tesseract of space-time, not FTL travelling for the ship.) Dimensional jumps allow mass to go great distances by making ER bridges lubricated with "exotic matter."

I do not need to worry about what I will say because it is not going to happen.

The Scriptures says,
"In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the EARTH." (Genesis 1:1).
...

Only if you take a literal approach to Genesis.

No. Earth is unique. The stars and the moon and the sun where created as signs for the Earth and not for any other planet. I believe alien life on other planets is a part of the deception by the evil one.

Ufo Deception

Only if you take a literal approach to Genesis.

Do you take to the literal approach of Jesus rising from the grave 3 days later? Yes, of course you do. But because you favor ideas outside the Bible by secular Science, you are influenced to think otherwise in regards to Genesis 1. However, when we formulate our worldviews, we have to first look to the Bible first, and then Science. It is not the other way around, my friend.

The term "earthlike" needs several conditions to be met. It must be a hard surfaced (rocky) planet not a gas giant. It must be large enough to hold an atmosphere but not so large as to have a crushing gravity. It must orbit in the "goldilocks zone" --- warm enough for liquid water but not so hot as to boil it away. Earth fits those conditions admirably. Mars is just barely within the zone on the cold side while Venus seems to be just outside of it on the hot side.

Generally when the bible and science seem to be in conflict, it is almost always involves just how the bible is interpreted. A "literal and inerrant" interpretation simply does not work in many instances.

Yeah, we definitely need to all have free access to all information and technology, rather than the governments hoarding it all.

There is no conflict. Science supports a young Earth which the Bible strongly implies. So there is no reason to insert a gap theory between verses or to change a day in reference to a morning and night as being longer than a morning and night.

When I say that a guy looks dog like, he has to resemble a dog in some way in appearance in order for him to be dog like.

These planets do resemble Earth in some way. They are rocky planets around the same size as Earth. They are Earth-like in the same way Venus and Mars are Earth-like.

So there should be no celebrations by atheists as a result of this find whereby they can claim Christians are all wrong now.

...

Christian and atheist scientists agree on almost everything when it comes to science. I think you are inventing disagreement where none exists.

Science supports a young Earth

It does not! As a retired scientist, mathematician and educator I say that emphatically. I much prefer to say that you have been misinformed than to suggest any deception on your part.

Scientists have been detecting planets through multiple methods for decades now. Are you saying they are just making it up?
