• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am a bit worried right now because I just had my colonoscopy and they found 2 tiny (7 and 8 mm sessile) polyps. One was near the appendix (in other words WAAAY in there and the other in the transverse colon (under the stomach/liver area). The doc is well experienced. Has probably seen thousands of these things. He says that he removed them and will biopsy them but said he'll see me again in 5 years unless something showed up which he clearly doesn't expect. The first time he found one 8 years ago, he told me what it was (type) and that he'd see me in 3 years and he was right with the second one also (hyperplasia which never becomes cancer) and he didn't seem at all worried this time though I was a bit drugged and therefore forgetful. So, have any of your had sessile polyps that were hyperplasia and nothing else? I know they are harder to get rid of and require more care and additional removal of tissue if they are precancerous (not hyperplasia) so I am wondering if anyone has had hyperplastic sessile polyps so I can breathe easier or if you have have had very small sessile polyps and if your docs weren't all that concerned.

I had a small polyp removed last year and it was benign. Nevertheless I had to go back again this year and what I did not know was that other diseases were checked for too. Well praise God, nothing was found.

I would not be that concerned if the polyps were benign. I guess we should be glad for thorough doctors!

Also I did have hyperplasia last year in my uterus which resulted in me having a partial hysterectomy (I'm 54). To my understanding all hyperplasia does not lead to cancer but in precancerous conditons hyperplasia may be present.

What is sissele mean?

Sessile means Flat or spread out. Mine looked like a pimple. The other kind are on stalks and are easier to remove. They can be either benign or cancerous. I haven't heard from the doc and it's been a week so far as I'm concerned, no news is good news though I'd love to know what causes these polyps and how to prevent them. I mean, I do a bit of what I'm supposed to now. I don't eat many processed meats (sausage/deli meats), I dont' have a lot of grilled meats. I mostly drink water. I take Calcium and vitamin D. I hear supplementing with selenium is good but not sure if it truly works. I have IBS and I sometimes wonder if my system being so easily irritated doesn't contribute.

I did go over the form he gave me and they were smaller than I thought. Actually 5 and 6 mm, not 7 and 8.
