If the pastor really believes he is your master this is a big problem for you. You might want to question his character. If he twisted scripture in order to justify his beliefs then this is a really big problem for you. All I know about the situation is what you told me but still it seems that he didn't make any honest slip or mistake when he used scripture in an inappropriate manor. It appears that he has bad character and is manipulative. People like this can cause a lot of problems for you. Be careful it appears that he is not to be trusted.

Very worrying indeed - Well said!

I truely don't beleive this pastor believes he is my master. I think he feels like as far as my spirutal growth I should along seek it under him and not go to other pastors for it.

I don't agree wit this approach but is the pastor of the church I'm attending. I'm more disturbed by him using the scripture in the way he did. But I truely don't think he beleives his is my supreme master.

I think he is comming from a place were A father would prefer for his son to seek guidance from him, and not his best friends dad.

I really hope that this is the case. But he really should not have used that scripture as back up. He should have just said that he would rather you go to him than another pastor. Give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but I grew up in a church where they didn't want us to go to any other pastors ESPECIALLY of other denominations so that we wouldn't find out that their doctrine was false. It was a means in which they controlled the congregation.
