Dear Friends,

I would like to ask for your help. I had a dream not too long ago. There were many parts to it which I feel I understand by the Power of The Holy Spirit. There is one part however that keeps coming back to me. In it there was an evil force, it was telling me lies but I didn't recognise them as lies. Then the Holy Spirit tapped me on the shoulder and said turn around and ask him (the evil thing) to swear all he has said in the Name of Jesus. So I did, and then the thing was in utter defiance and refused. Then I knew they were lies. and then the thing said it wouldn't do it because "he was devin".

I think "devin" is a name but I dont know what it means. I know that demons have names and the name often indicates what it does but I don't know what this means. Please help if anyone knows or can pray. Thank you.

I would not be very concerned. I would not worry about any dark side images that
approach you in dreams. Most likely they were 2 of them involved. 1 you perceived as
the holy spirit. Do you really think that the holy spirit would tap you on the shoulder and give you instructions. Or that any image or demon could or would be in the presence of the Spirit of the Father in Heaven. Next time when something taps you on the shoulder, turn around and ask it, it's name. The Spirit of the Father in Heaven brings comfort. The Spirit does not bring concern or confusion. The trick they use, is the perceived good spirit makes contact with you and gains your trust.
Dark images use the image of jesus, angels, holy spirits, all the time. Just read these posts. They are all over the place saying all sorts of things. I have jesus approach me all the time in dreams, I ignore him, as I know Jesus is at the Right Hand of the Father.
The Holy Spirit of the Father in Heaven is within me, He is not at my back.
Focus on the Father in Heaven, not on some image of nothing, devin.

Devin is apparently a Gaelic word for poet. A poet crafts words in aesthetic ways to bring meaning, or to influence. In the dream you had not noticed negative effects it had on you. Like poetry, flowery words and affirmations, creative wordcrafting and impressive intellectualism might have lured you.

In other languages, the root is divine, resembling a god. So that ties in very well with demonic spirits, that try to operate like gods in our lives.

In Turkish, Devin is connected to the word for movement. Our God doesn't change, while deceiving spirits change on a whim.

When I get a curious word in a dream, I usually find that God wants me to see more than just the word meaning, but some of the surrounding information as well. You might want to look it up. And pray about it, of course.

A similar sounding word- Devon is a type of manufactured meat product sold in Australia and New Zealand. It is usually composed of several types of pork (unclean in the bible), basic spices, and a binder. It is similar in appearance and taste to boloney (Slang: foolish or exaggerated talk or behavior. Some people also think of baloney as lies)

Whatever this demonic spirit is, there's no need to be anxious. The Holy Spirit will tap you on the shoulder when you need Him to. It's a good reminder though to be actively listening to what people are telling us to see if it's consistent with the character & ways of God (Jesus Name) revealed in the bible. It's also helpful to have others around us who have the gift of discernment & can pick up on these things early. This might be how the Holy Spirit's tap on your shoulder may come.

Whatever this demonic spirit is, there's no need to be anxious.

The other day I was reading Jesus' response when the disciples decided the drooling foaming demon was too much to handle. It seemed He was frustrated that they didn't get the concept of deliverance -- authority is authority, and subjection is subjection. No matter what the evil looks like, it must bow to its Creator. It could have five hind feet and sausage coming out its ears, and we would still have authority over it through Jesus Christ.

I just finished reading this thread then moved to another forum. The very first post I read I looked up and the users location was

Thought it was interesting, considering devon came up here. Don't know it means something ... then again don't know it doesn't. It just seemed the thing to do to come back and tell it.
