Read the O.P please.
...and come back down to earth. No-one personally attacked you.
Because, to me, Pink Unicorns orbiting the earth is just as believable as Yahweh, actually more believable, because I'm not ascribing supernatural power. As for purple aliens, that is far far more believable.
So it is my hope that by using this analogy you will gain some understanding into how atheists "believe" in god.
How about a mauve Gryphon?
There is just as much evidence that there is a Pink Unicorn orbiting the earth as there is for Yahweh.
I did. I never said God is Evil. I said the act of torturing someone for ever for something they have no control over is Evil.
Do you think torturing someone for eternity for doing something they are not responsible for is Evil/Immoral, Yes or No?
So is a lot of other totally unbelievable things. Why bother with this one? If we're wrong about it then that's our problem, not yours.
Who are you even talking to? Read the o.p that I responded to. It even has "evil" in the title.
This is a Christian forum. And numerous Christians have told me that a) God is all loving, and that b) I'm going to hell for not believing.
I thought it would be interesting to see if any Christians could explain how God can be all loving, and at the same time do something that is considered Evil/Immoral by pretty well everyone: Torturing someone for all eternity for something they are not responsible for.
So far, after 11 pages, no Christian has come close to giving a reasonable explanation as to why this is not evil/immoral.
Sounds supernatural to me. So you'd rather believe something you made up, rather than honestly look at the scripture and testimony of 2000+ years of Christianity?
How about a real God?
So why not leave it be?
Dear ThinkForYourself. God has given us free will, we can follow Christ and return to God, or we can go our own way, and end up in Outer Darkness,
where can be heard loud wailing and gnashing of teeth. ...
Why would I take stories written by people from the bronze age about a mythical being seriously? That makes no sense.
If you can provide any actual evidence, please do.
Until then Yahweh is a mythical being/creature with stories written about him, just like Allah and Unicorns.
Why do you keep avoiding answering the question:
Is torturing someone for all eternity for something they are not responsible for evil/immoral, Yes or No?
According to the bible, God gave me my brain. My brain refuses to believe in anything for which there is no evidence. This includes Yahweh, Allah, Bigfoot, Unicorns, Santa Claus, etc.
So I have no free will in this, and have no control over what I believe. I could lie and say I believe, even act as if I believe, but it would be a lie, and wouldn't God know?
Yet according to Revelation I am going to be tortured for all eternity, for something that is beyond my control. Do you think that is moral or good?
I'm an atheist, and according to the bible I am going to Hell.
Why would God torture me for all eternity for something I have no control over?
I learned what I learned. I was raised the way I was raised. When I was young, I opened my heart to God, but he couldn't be bothered showing up.
I don't believe in God. That's the way it is. I could lie and say I do, but God is all knowing, so he would know I don't believe.
In the end, God is responsible for the fact that I don't believe.
Torturing me for eternity, because of something He failed to do, is Evil.
Now this is just a flippant misrepresentation of what the bible is and what I said.
No, it's not my job to provide you evidence. God has and will. There's a plethora of information out there about what Christians claim.
Do you want respect for your mockery? 'Cos you won't find that here.
So you tried once to find out if He existed, no sign and you gave up. You're not responsible for believing that He exists or not, but you are for searching.
Search and you will find, knock and the door will be opened.
I can't answer the question because that's not what the Bible says.
I did. I never said God is Evil. I said the act of torturing someone for ever for something they have no control over is Evil.
Do you think torturing someone for eternity for doing something they are not responsible for is Evil/Immoral, Yes or No?
You are referring to evil as subjectively or objectively?
