  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If any of you get a chance would you say a little prayer for me?  I had a hard day today, I don't know why, but I was feeling very anxious about God and about my life, and questioning my decisions even though I know I shouldn't.  I have been getting a lot closer to God in the past few weeks, but today I felt the old doubt creeping back in my mind. :( ..after being an agnostic for about 4 years, it is hard to keep the doubt away.  I'd appreciate any encouraging thoughts or bible verses you have that would help me trust my decisions to come closer to God.  Thanks!

Look up:

 Philippians 4:6,7 - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, present your requests to God.  And the PEACE of God with transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." 

and

Jeremiah 29:11-13 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  Plans to give you hope and a futuer.  Then you come to me and pray to me and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart."

Those two verses are some of my favorites.  Write them both out and post them where you can read them on a daily basis.  They are God's promises to you JillLars.  Meditate upon these verses and trust that God will continue to give you a "peace that passes all understanding", because He will!  He loves you so much and has incredible things planned for you.  HE LOVES YOU SO VERY MUCH!!  :hug:  If you need to talk, please pm me.  I'll keep you in prayer.

Praying for you Jill. S&C gave you some really good verses. I will add these to them:

Isaiah 40:10,13
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. .....For I am the Lord your God, who takes you by the right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help"

And:

Romans 8:38-39
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the furture, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

I will also leave you with this prayer taken from Ephesians 1:17-19; 3:14-21:

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. ...For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strenghten you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

Proverbs 3:5,6  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct they paths.

God loves you so much, don't give up and don't give in to doubt.  Doubt is like a lion that tries to destroy faith.  The good news is that lions can be defeated and chased away!  Get into the Word and get the Word into you and you will find that you are more than equipped to conquer the enemy of doubt.
