First of all, it's a man and a woman.
Secondly, the article says nothing of the sort. Here's the only place where the CNN article mentions leaks:
"The dismissals come as Gabbard has vowed to root out what she has described as politicization of the intelligence community, and launched a war on leaks to the media that critics say is hollowing out the intelligence community of needed expertise from experienced professionals."
That's a generalised statement about what Gabbard has done as DNI, not a statement about anything in particular done by these officials.
Furthermore, other media articles contradict the notion that they were "fired for leaking intel to the media".
Fox News stated that:
Collins also has whistleblower complaints against him for political bias and "deliberately undermining the incoming Trump administration," officials said.
Rolling Stone has similar language:
Collins and Langan-Riekhof were reportedly accused by whistleblowers of being “radically opposed to Trump” and “deliberately undermining the incoming Trump administration.”
Axios.com has direct statements from officials:
"These Biden holdovers were dismissed because they politicized intelligence," said Gabbard's deputy chief of staff, Alexa Henning, on X.
...
She added that "the leak of classified info was a NIC product, which is against the law, that is the issue," as she pushed back on a Washington Post report saying Gabbard had "removed or sidelined officials perceived to not support Trump's political agenda."
However the "NIC product" mentioned wasn't "leaked" - it was a declassified memo that was released by National Intelligence Council in response to an open records request. It literally says "
Approved for release by ODNI on 5/5/2025" at the top of it. ODNI is the 'Office of the Director of National Intelligence'.
This is just the Trump administration being embarrassed (again) when they get caught out in a lie. So, they fire the people that tell the truth and then lie about it again.
When a liar is caught in a lie, you shouldn't expect the next thing they say will be the truth.
