From a secular self defense aspect, a gun CAN help... but it guarantees the conflict WILL escalate to a life or death situation. Even in most break ins, people don't break in TO murder you... they break in to steal a TV or some liquor. They usually WANT to avoid you... but if you pop out with a gun SOMEONE is dying. Maybe everyone. Maybe just them... but definitely someone.

Or, you can avoid them also, be mildly inconvenienced and have to file an insurance claim.

I would rather avoid them.

I am definitely getting security alarm for my apartment; a very loud alarm. So it doesn't escalate into somebody getting killed.

I wear my ignorance on my sleeve. Nothing to be ashamed of. I come from a long line of fools. It means I've had a lot of opportunities to learn lessons.

I would rather avoid them.

Alarms are good. Security cameras are also a great deterrant. Harbor Freight and bestbuy have good systems that will cost you less than a gun and may even be a tax rightoff or insurance deduction. Or you can go super cheap and pay $20 for a set of fake cameras and "smile, you're on camera" stickers. It makes you a very unappealing target.

To me killing is justified in self-defense, though ideally it should be avoided if possible. In reality there probably isn't always the time or safety to be merciful.

Generally I'm in favor of a victim destroying a bully, even though I'm also in favour of second chances, proportionality, and compassion.

I have mixed feeling to be perfectly honest.
