  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Could you be convinced of something that you know God wants you do to, that you believe is Gods will for your life, and be wrong?

This is was my friends challenge infront of our big grade 6 & 7 group at my church. Honestly, it opened up my eyes. Its true! I believe, that you could be so sure in yourself that God wants you to do something, yet in the end be completely wrong. This is really scary for me to think about because Im going to be making a life changing decision this year and if its not Gods will than I obviously do not want it to happen. So it really made me take a deeper look into what my motives are, and where my heart really lies.
I believe also though that if your truely seeking God about the situation and praying for His will to be done, than it ultimaley will be done. But an examination of your true motives and heart is a must.
The example my friend gave me was this: If someone was wanting to get married and really believed it was Gods will but their heart was truley more excited for the marriage bed, for having sex than the actual marriage itself, than would that really be Gods will for this persons life?

What are your thoughts?!
How could you be completely sure what Gods will is for your life?!
What are your experiences and testimonies?!

You know... I lost my job once, had a bad accident (11 stitches on my head) and all this in the span of one week. And you know what God told me? He told me to rest...

Not just physically, but also spiritually.

So seek peace and pursue it. If the choices you're going to make gives you peace then it's most likely the choice that God wants you to but if you choose otherwise be sure that God is still there for you nonetheless :) All things turn for GOOD :)

I agree with your post totally Christdriven.

It is possible to be 100% convinced and sure of God's will and yet that may not be God's will for us. Someone said "There is no secret formula for finding God's will. Every christian is bound to make mistakes in this area in order to learn and understand the True will of God."

Inspite of all those mistakes God is merciful as the Teacher has mercy on his students. Coz we are all students in God's training school!

There are some times we may doubt whether what we are doing is God's will or not, but, that could be God's will.

So, its like this...

==> We may be 100% sure that it is God's will and it could really be God's will.

==> We may be 100% sure that it is God's will and yet it may not be God's will.

==> We may be 100% doubtful whether it is God's will and it really may not be God's will.

==> We may be 100% doubtful whether it is God's will and yet it could be God's will.

None of us can ever boast that we have done 100% God's will throughout our life when we reach the end of our life.

Only God can say whether we really did God's will or not.

Read this excellent book on Finding God's Will. I sure hope you are going to be blessed after reading this book.

On the one hand we have the Spirit within and on the other we have the Bible without. We live by the inner law of life, by the leading of the Spirit. What we say, what we wear, who we befriend, etc. This is all by the the law of life. But we are always checked by the writen word, the Bible, to keep us on the proper path.

You are correct. Seeking God's will is extremely important because often too many people try to impose their own will on God instead of being open in their hearts to receive God's direction. I truly believe that God does examine our hearts and motives. As much as we need to trust Him, God also needs to trust us in order to bless us with certain responsibilities and privileges. It takes time to grow in Christ. Spiritual maturity is a process and is not achieved in one day. Patience is key. From my own experience, I can honestly say that I am more patient today than I was in my younger years. I now realize how important it is to wait on God's perfect timing. God wants the best for us so it's a matter of being patient with ourselves to continue learning and growing.

Live, learn, grow and love. That's what life is all about.
