  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On the 8th of February I had the following dream. It's been bothering me because, unlike other dreams I've had, I'm not sure what it means, and I can't seem to forget about it. This is the first time I've ever reached out to others for help in discerning the meaning behind a dream of mine.

(I should perhaps note that I am a man in his early 30's, and I am in my sixth year of true discipleship despite having been raised heavily in the church. I have had many strange supernatural events occur in my life since coming to know the Lord in late 2007.)

The dream is as follows:
-------

I was running from people chasing me. I found myself in a small wooden shed fighting hand-to-hand with a tall, strong nordic-looking fellow with blonde hair and was losing to him. I finally managed to crush his right eyeball with my thumb and ram something large down his throat. To make sure he definitely couldn't breath I blocked his nose. But another man in the shed told me that it wouldn't kill him because he didn't have to breath.

So I took off running again from my pursuers, but I saw that I was carrying the head of the nordic man with me along with some of his torso. Soon I found myself in a very large, sunny field where a big group of young people were playing some sort of game. Feeling the need to disguise myself, I transformed into a tall, blonde nordic-looking woman wearing a black evening dress. The head I was carrying became wrapped in a black cloth and I understood I was to be pretending he was my baby.

Someone came up to me, and at that very moment the head in my arms violently vomited up his own full-sized heart...

-------
...and that's when I woke up. There was more to the dream but that's all I can remember.

Vespin,
Strange dream. Most of mine are meaningless and abstract. I used to have those dreams of people chasing me as a kid. Maybe it's a preview of that new Viking movie? :) Just kidding. If I was Daniel, I could tell you what it means, but I'm afraid I do not have that gift to interpret dreams. I'll take a swipe at it though for what it's worth. If I knew something more about your life, knew you personally, it may be more clear.
Being chased represents fear. Fighting your enemy that can't be killed, sounds like Satan. We are to be secure in our faith and not to fear, God protects us. But we don't fight Satan, we resist him. Christ already defeated him. Disguising yourself is a natural instinct. You don't want people to think you are a murderer and they wouldn't suspect a woman with a baby... so just instinct there.
I had a dream the other night of a giant rat approaching me and getting ready to jump at me ... then I woke trying to push him away. Weird stuff ... dreams.
A good thing to do is pray before you go to sleep for a pleasant peaceful rest and protection against the enemy (Nordic or whatever). The heart of Satan's words are vomit.

Hi Vespin,

The imagery in the dream reminded me of Paul's phrase in Romans 7, "Who will save me from this body of death?" In despairing of his natural spiritual condition, Paul used a word picture that pointed to a criminal punishment in use back then in some cultures, whereby the body of a murder victim was tied onto the murderer's back until disease put the murderer to a horrible death – a gruesome sort of poetic justice.

The small wooden shed would refer to the flesh and its limitations. In fighting, you tried to halt the ability to see and speak, but the problem was that the enemy couldn't be killed – he was already dead.

In the happy field full of life you disguised your problem as winsomely as possible so as to fit in and not be singled out, but it refuses to stay disguised. The heart of the matter insists on manifesting itself in its fulness.

I wonder if you are having a problem with unforgiveness or anger toward someone, and are trying to suppress it. This would put you at the mercy of tormentors, according to the parable of the unforgiving servant in Mt. 18. They are chasing you down, and in the natural you are unable to escape or defeat them.

If so, the answer is to simply confess it and trust in God's unfailing mercy, and then to ask in faith for His help forgiving – which literally means to send the offense away. Take a stand in prayer and keep forgiving, until it is gone (Mk 11). As soon as you do this, the tormentors lose their power over you, and you will be free.
