CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
Seeing the Supernatural

God made the heavens and the earth - that is to say He made the heavens first! So people have physical eyes, but first they have spiritual eyes.
We see this in the Scriptures!
Is 6:10 Render the hearts of this people insensitive, Their ears dull, and their eyes dim, Otherwise they might see with their eyes, ….
The point it that people have spiritual eyes and ears, but their ears are dull and their eyes are dim!!
So you have physical eyes, you also have spiritual eyes. The problem is not that people don't have spiritual eyes, the problem is that people are insensitive so they don't use them. Still remember that there is also another problem, and that is that people are not obedient to God also. So people, out of the rebellion, might start using their spiritual eyes and ears but to seek spirits that are not the Lord our God.
What happens when people go after witchcraft, fortune telling and that type of thing? They are using the spiritual eyes and ears in rebellion to God. That being the case, it would be wise for God to render their hearts insensitive, least they in their rebellion, wind up in more problems than if they were spiritually blind. But then if you start seeking the Lord, because you stopped being rebellious, then wouldn't He again make you sensitive and open up your spiritual ears and eyes?
Because of all this (the having spiritual eyes and ears but them being dull) we are all bound to pick up some things, just poorly. Because poorly, most people just don't worry about it at all. Their pride tells them they know it all so they don't pay attention. Yet it is still there so it is that people report some spiritual experiences, yet with poor understanding of what is going on. However we also might find a few who being especially rebellious to God, went after the use of the spiritual eyes and ears for reasons of pride. That is a few sought witchcraft and other evil. And then there are some who repent of their ways and seek the Lord for what He has to show them and say to them. They seek Him and He activates their eyes and ears to do His work.
Thus the seeing and hearing with your spiritual eyes and ears, is not the gift of the spirit, but what He gives you when you use them are the gifts!!
That is, if you seek the Lord and listen to Him, He can speak and show you different things. To someone the Lord might give a word of knowledge, to another a word of prophecy, to another a teaching, to another tongues, to another the words which interpret the tongues. So He gifts you different information - you already had the eyes and ears!
So in the OP we see some confusion about if seeing and hearing since being a child as being a gift. No, it is not really the gifts of the spirits any more than you physical eyes and ears were gifts of the spirit. However it is nice that you considered what was going on.
To the other question, How can you use your eyes and ears to benefit the church:
We need to seek the Lord Jesus Christ and listen to what He has to say to us!!!
Now the heavens and the earth are His, so it is not just about helping the church, but it is about helping Him. There is something written about those not gathering with Him. We are trying to draw people into obedience to Him. Our message is the same as the Father's message, Jesus is His 'beloved Son with whom He is well-pleased, Listen to Him." That was the Father's message and that is our message. People can listen to Him, because they have ears to hear. They need to use those spiritual ears to seek His voice and words to them. We do not just go about using them as we think, but we use our spiritual eyes and ears to listen to Him. If you do that He will give you gifts of information: words of knowledge, words of wisdom, words of prophecy, words that bring healing, words of teachings, words in tongues, words of interpretation of tongues...

Could be. What I've observed is a strong concern about getting into the New Age, the demonic. whic is understandable but it results in a stalemate.
Just addressing our physical senses, they can have Godly spiritual purposes and it's clearly in Scripture. Moses and the burning bush - Exo 3:3; cloven tongues - Acts 2:3; Paul's Damascus Road Acts 9:3, well, tthere's too many to list.
Also, rebellion may be the reason why some turn to fortune tellers and the like. But some don't realize the Bible states no to those pursuits. Some have supernatural experiences and they want to understand. They asks people about them including church leaders and they're told those experiences are all demonic.
Instead of discarding everything, mocking, etc.
God is supernatural. We really shouldn't be surprised when He does supernatural things. One way to address that line between the Godly and the ungodly is - "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Heb 5:14
Even though some are ignoring more Scripture today than ever before, but with God's help, we can discern the good - Scripture states we can.

Also this Scripture, Heb 5:14, helps us to see that there's a difference between discerning and the manifestation of the spiritual gift, the discerning of spirits. We all need discernment but not every believer will have discerning of spirits. All those spiritual gifts work together for the good of the church under the direction of The Holy Spirit. I Cor 12

Often we tend to use "Supernatural" to our spiritual experiences. This isn't really correct. Man is a spiritual being! Yes, we are found in the flesh, or physical, but we are still spiritual beings! So it is natural for us to have spiritual experiences, not supernatural!!!
The super natural comes from God taking action! Perhaps we might also call things supernatural when other powerful beings take action. Remember we battle with powers, principalities, and the dark forces of this world. So being aware of spiritual event should be natural!! The only reason it is not is that with our eyes we don't see and with our ears we don't hear. So seeing and hearing with our spiritual eyes and ears should be in considering "natural" not "supernatural". The very fact that we get this confused shows our problem of not using our spiritual senses!
So it is we see posts like:
Of course! If we look we will see "horrible" things. Yet that is not what we need to look at. We need to look for the Kingdom of God. Is it not written, "Seek Ye first the kingdom of God..."?
We should be aware of what is going on, and there is good and evil. If we open our eyes we can see both, but often we tend to focus on the evil and not the good. We do this in the physical also, if you think about it.
Remember the prophet with the man next to him, where the man next to the prophet saw and incredibly large army around them, but missed seeing the chariots of fire and the larger army that was for them. The prophet had to pray that the mans eyes would be open!
My friends, there are more with us that against us!! If when you use your eyes you are seeing "horrible" things, look for the kingdom of God first next time!!
We have a King, Jesus Christ, and He has a kingdom, the Kingdom of God. So instead of looking to hatred, look to love. Instead of looking to murder, look to life. But what do we do? What do you see?
It is easy to see the fault finders, the accusers, the ones who complain about every little thing. We easily see them with our physical eyes and ears and we come into agreement with them. A quick look seems to indicate an increase is it all, but is it really and increase or is it just because we took a quick look and didn't seek first our King with His Kingdom. So with both our physical eyes and ears and our spiritual eyes and ears, we need to seek first the Kingdom of God. It should make it a very natural thing in our life, like the prophet who knew there were more with him than against him.
