Please don't twist the lyrics to make them say what you want. That's not the order they go in and therefore is a blatant misrepresentation.

And blackwasp -- When has Live admitted to being anti-Jesus? That is very contrary to the information I have on them and I've been a Live fan for almost 10 years now...

Live are not Christians, they are into that New Age stuff. There is much controversy over their music because they talk about faith and God. Xian's just have this thing where everytime someone says the word God it means they are talking about Jesus when there are several different religions with several different Gods that other people believe, not just what we do.

I was a bit supprised when I heard that myself. Live is an awesome band and I love their music. I hope they have a lot more albums come out.

I am ignorant when it comes to New Age stuff as I have not really studdied it much and the people I've talked to are seemingly as ignorant as I am. All I know of it is that they are big into astrology and the likeness. I could be wrong.

Here's the full song:

Heaven -=- Live
You don't need no friends
Get back your faith again
You have the power to believe
Another dissident, take back your evidence
It has no power to deceive
I'll believe it when I see it for myself

I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter and I believe
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set and I perceive

You sit with them all night
Everything they say is right
But in the morning they were wrong
I'll be right by your side
Come hell or water high
Down any road you choose to roam

I'll belive it when I see it for myself

I don't need no one
To tell me 'bout heaven
I look at my daughter and i believe
I dont need no proof
When it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set
And I perceive

Darlin' I belive
That sometimes it's hard to breathe
At the bottom of the sea

I'll believe it when I see it for myself

I dont need no one to tell me 'bout heaven
I look at my daughter and i believe
I dont need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set and i perceive
I dont need no one to tell me 'bout heaven
I look at my daughter and i believe
I dont need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set
I can see the sun set
I can see the sun set
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
To tell me 'bout heaven

"It's something that's reared its head since the first record," Ed states, Bemused. "People weren't totally exposing themselves to the lyrics, because I've never really advocated Christianity, simply because I've never really been a Christian. In fact, the key line of our first single was about questioning Christianity. I think because we said 'Jesus' in a song, people immediately thought we were Christians, which is total bull%#$@"

Is that blatant enough, Subtotal?

Thanks for the quote, but it still doesn't say they are anti-Jesus.

Are they Christians? No, of course not, and I've never thought they are. But claiming someone is "anti-Jesus" is quite a bit more extreme. Regardless, I still think they would be a good source for the idea originally expressed in this thread. You can tell they are really searching, and I commend them for taking that initiative on something so many other people disregard.

You should change the little description next to your avatar to "Miserable Failure."
And you should change yours to "hypocrite".

"And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Matt 7.3:5

Anyone else see the irony?

Excellent thread. Excellent suggestions here. My reason for even coming to this thread is that I run an online radio show that intentionally blends secular music and so-called "Christian" artists (man, I know I am opening myself up with that designation) that are spiritually themed or reflect/consider a world view consistent with Christian faith (another vague comment open to critique...let's just say I'm not playing Motley Crue's "Girls, Girls, Girls." Okay?). I'll make my shameless plug below, but for now I need to stick to the thread...

Here are some more suggestions that I have featured on my show:

Blindside - Actually, these guys are Christians that have larger secular appeal. Cut of the same die as POD.

John Mayer - Check out "Bigger Than My Body" and "Something's Missing." Neither are necessarily spiritual, but good life stuff.

Linkin Park - Mostly whining and angst (aka - popular music), but good discussion starter stuff.

Lifehouse

Audioslave - Chris Cornell communicates a lot of spiritual musings in his lyrics. Certainly not Christian, but good, thoughtful stuff nonetheless.

Okay, at the risk of being accused of spamming, my shameless promotion is below...

My Internet broadcast radio show is called Righteous Rock Radio. It IS NOT a proselyting effort, rather a music program done by Christian dude who just loves music and believes the art of music speaks and has volumes to say (not preach, but say). As I like to try and explain to others, imagine if FM radio wasn't so sappy and tepid, and AM Talk radio had cool music bookmarked by meaningful discussions about what the music might be saying about life, love, politics, culture, etc. That's my show. If you want to check it out and perhaps find some more material you can visit my website at RighteousRockRadio.com.

Peace!
