Actually, let me ask one question:

The verse actually says that God won't let us be "tempted" more than we are able. Which, I believe, means that the ball is in our court.

Whereas the way the verse is usually read by many (including myself) is that God won't allow a negative act (that isn't in our hands, which has nothing to do with temptation) that we can't handle to happen in our lives. i.e.: Getting robbed, losing your job, or whatever other scenario that -certain- people -may- not be able to handle. Which is incorrect?

I don't believe God is under any obligation to do good by His people, however it is in His nature to love and care for us so you shouldn't have concerns about that. In fact overcoming fear is one of the greatest achievements for many people whose demons have them trembling in fear. God doesn't actually use fear for incentive, but it exists as a natural state of being uncertain instead of having hope.

I was driving my motorbike on the road a few months back and approaching a group of teens, I saw one reach down into the grass and I was watching to see what it was and he picked up a gun, pointed it right at me and probably pulled the trigger, I think it was a toy gun, but still to have a gun pointed at you makes you think a bit - we're certainly not bulletproof!

On the other hand, over the last week our house has had two flatmates vacate leaving the three of us to pay for five bedrooms, we were concerned that the extra cost $50 extra each per week would be too much and we were going to try to get the lease ceased early, but within two days we had two people keen to move in immediately. This is in a town where there are like 70 flatmate wanted ads on TradeMe.

The Lord is our shepherd and He does bless us with every provision we need! (not more, not less, His portion is perfect).

Is it true that the, "God doesn't give you anything you can't handle" doesn't exist? If not, where does it come from? Is there another verse that it originated from? If it does exist, tho', can you guys please provide the verse?

Thanks!

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

See Romans 8:28,35-39.

That is incorrect. Which gives rise to sayings such as - don't tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is! Which is not Scripture, but it certainly is Scriptural.

So what normally happens when we're plunged into a situation that's beyond our capacity, is He cause us to grow.

"Lord enlarge my heart" is a prayer that can open up calamity. As is praying for patience.
