  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have heard that SDA are vegetarians. Is this true?

dear dvd, if you want to know about their interpretaation or practice of christianity i suggest to look into Doug Batchelor's "Prophicy Code" or "Amazing Fact". i am not SDA member but he has a lot of good points that many people are not seeing. i have learned a lot from him. i dont think they are vegetarian, he is only suggesting that it's a good practice.

I have heard that they were from people I know and respect. If you can't answer it, they say so. Thanks for the suggest. Here is suggestion for you. You could learn about how a church should function biblically. The book is The Emotionally Health Church. In it, they talk how a church should biblically function.

we can tell if we are true followers by our fruit of christianity. from what i searches arround they are showing a lo of it. most of us don't bother look into churches fruit because we don't know what the fruit of christianity is.

This is not on the topic of the thread. So if you want to talk about it pm me. If you don't really want to talk about it then don't. Yet, my question still remains, "Do they eat meat?"

it's all about SDA. why are you so offensive?. As christian, i have every right to talk about my brothers and sisters. especially if they are being obedient.

dear Searching, may i ask you a question? you mentioned that you have been SDA. is the "Sabbath" the only one you are questioning about them? i am not SDA member and am not going to be one. but i talked them and searched arround a bit and could not find any big difference from any other denomination except they are showing much more fruit of christianity compare to other denominations. and i believe their Sabbath is biblical. and if you are thinking about leaving them because of their Sabbath worship you are making a big mistake. they are much better than any other deniminations i attended in my humble opinion. i believe what we are doing in this thread is just never ending nit picking. it seems that we are just jealous because they are so fruitful. and it's far from christian manner.

Dear Mrs. Wildee

I appreciate your concern.

I am not leaving only because of their Sabbath Worship. If it were only that the SDA church chooses to worship on Saturday it would be one of the "Incidental things" that Paul talks about. The SDA church teaches that the Sabbath is the seal of God and will be the final test question so to speak.

I believe the bible says that the Holy Spirit is the seal of God.

Because of this belief in the Sabbath being the seal of God the SDA church teaches that by not keeping the 7th-day Sabbath you will be lost in the end.

That is Grace + Good Works = Salvation not the biblical equation of Grace = Salvation + Good Works.

Vegetarianism is not a "Doctrine" of the the church.

However, it is a large part of the churchs overall health message. I can't say that a particular percentage is or is not but in my experience a majority are vegetarian by choice.

I did not get that impression or protest. But I do not want to take the risk of breaking any of the ten commandments. God's word never changes. Fourth commandment says clealy "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy". It's very clear and simple to me. I take their practice seriously because they are showing a lot of fruit of christianity. And I don't see why being a vegetarian offends so many people. They are only suggesting and it is a good practice. Do you know many Christians are overweight? Do you know that being obese is a bad witness as a Christian? We should avoid being a bad witness.

We love by grace of God with guidience by the Holy Spirit. It is good to pratice sabbath for many reasons. Yet, we live to the NT not the OT. Romans did state that we don't let anyone condemn you for the pratice or not praticing Sabbath or any Holy Festible.

Correct, I do not want to bring up side issues but Mrs Wildee has touched on some very good points.

Sorry Col 2:
Col 2:16-19

16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such people also go into great detail about what they have seen, and their unspiritual minds puff them up with idle notions. 19They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

Sabbath is a great thing to observe in pure of heart. Let no man deceive you on this. Though each day is the Lord's as all things are his. Praise and worship to him is a constant thing.

I don't understand everything what God teaches or commands. Just because we don't understand does not give us an excuse for being disobedient. We should have a child's mind when it comes to obedience. If God is helping Christians to be fruitful they are doing something right and the SDAs are doing a lot of things right. I am comparing to other denominations. I feel blessed seeing fruitful Christians since we have so many bad reports about Christians, and it's not just a report, I have been witnessing a lot of bad ones all around me for over 30 years.

Do live the law or by faith? Do you look to your deeds to justify ourself or do you look at the faith that made you ready vessal to do the will of God then looking back on your deed praise God for it? Is you belief only based on the things that you identify are works of the spirit or is it something more than all of what you see?
