I am new here, therefore, I would like to do a survey here amongst us.

This is only an information survey, therefore, I am requesting that we do not get into a debate over any of the responses that may be shared here.

I should be able to make this request seeing that I am the originator of this topic. :D

I am not going to ask any questions that I expect to receive an obvious response. I am going to ask questions in the areas where I think there may be some differences.

Feel free to ask clarification-type questions.

I am going to begin in this particular post by asking questions pertainingto Ellen G. White:

1 - Does anybody here accept that Ellen G. White was God's Messenger?

2 - Does anybody here believe that her writings were inspired by God?

3 - Does anybody here believe that her writings are the Lesser Light leading to the Greater Light?

===========

In His Love, Mercy, & Grace,

Daryl Fawcett :prayer:
yes, absolutely to all three questions!

How do you think the Bible writers were inspired?

That is a good question.
Are others "inspired" even to this moment? How do we know? What is the criteria to accept some person's directive but ignore another's? Why does one denomination, for example, chose the "inspiration" of some sources but ignore that of others, and why does another denomination accept the ignored inspiration of the previously mentioned denom. and ignore yet others?
Who's right?

What is inspiration? Does it mean one's information is 100% factually correct? Think of a singer who is inspired (sp) to sing Amazing Grace does it mean the singer will sing every note technically in key? And if they do sing an off note does that lessen the inspiration to sing in the first place?

I agree. We should start off with a proper definition of "inspiration." Then we can go on, or we are bound to be talking in circles about who is inspired and to what degree and when the inspiration patent is up, etc., etc.

besides all the stuff she copied

"all"? So far in DA I found one whole sentence--that could have been memorized and forgotten where it came from, that's called cryptomnesia. Examine the evidence at http://dedication.www3.50megs.com/David/index.html know of unbiased (one a scholar and an individual) people who have seen it have concluded she was not a plagiarist.

Although i agree with all 3 it does not mean that EGW is perfect or that she never made mistakes.

She did and we know that but ti throw out the baby with the bath water is very childish.

Ellen G. White gave her opinion from her social environment like most normal people, even Paul did it with his comments on women. But when the Spirit came in vision or inspiration then it changed what was given from mortal mans 'views' to another 'view'....
