I am new here, therefore, I would like to do a survey here amongst us.

This is only an information survey, therefore, I am requesting that we do not get into a debate over any of the responses that may be shared here.

I should be able to make this request seeing that I am the originator of this topic. :D

I am not going to ask any questions that I expect to receive an obvious response. I am going to ask questions in the areas where I think there may be some differences.

Feel free to ask clarification-type questions.

I am going to begin in this particular post by asking questions pertainingto Ellen G. White:

1 - Does anybody here accept that Ellen G. White was God's Messenger?

2 - Does anybody here believe that her writings were inspired by God?

3 - Does anybody here believe that her writings are the Lesser Light leading to the Greater Light?

===========

In His Love, Mercy, & Grace,

Daryl Fawcett :prayer:

1 - Does anybody here accept that Ellen G. White was God's Messenger?

Yes

2 - Does anybody here believe that her writings were inspired by God?

It all depends on what you mean by inspired. If you mean inspired in the same way the Bible writers were inspired I would have to disagree. For, she wasn't theologically correct about everything she said in her writings.

3 - Does anybody here believe that her writings are the Lesser Light leading to the Greater Light?

Yes

Perhaps you should have asked your question in a different way.

Instead of saying "Does anybody..."

Say

"Do you..."

I agree with all.

I answered the questions that were posed by the OP. It did not make any inquiry as to what I believe personally.

That is why I suggested to him that he asked the question the wrong way.

Would you care to answer it from what you believe or just what you think other SDA's believe here at CF.

haven't read any (not one) of her writings. From what i've heard, yes she's made some mistakes but most of the stuff i here from her writings agree with the bible. honestly, it does not concern me right now if she was a 'messenger' or not. i believe the Word of God is complete and is the only light we need. --just my opinion

Why should I? Why is it necessary? He has no bona fides here? His first post is an inquisition. That aside, is EGW in need of props? Is this a signature gathering effort? How will the answers to those questions change her standing? She has been dead for almost 100 years. It's all over. I get very nervous about people who try to give the impression that they follow everything EGW wrote. They don't even do everything that Jesus taught. Why don't allow EGW to rest in peace. Read her books if you want to. Apply her advice to your life where possible. Enjoy life.

This last sentence stuck out in my mind. Didn't we just have an extensive tussle a short while ago because Tall claimed that on a certain point Matthew was not theologically correct? Am I missing something?

Come to think of it ... where is he now? What was the question really about? A litmus test as to our legitimacy as Adventists?
