SDA: Get Together

Hey everybody,

The SDA forum seems to lack a get-to-know-each-other thread. So, let's make one. Please post a little about yourself to get to know a little about each other. This is not a theological discussion thread, so please do not debate ideas. But, you can put a few beliefs in, if you feel led. I'll start, although I'm not SDA. Add or remove topics as you feel necessary. And, please only post once and with your info. We can start a separate fellowship thread that is related to this thread.

Participation in your church: teach Sunday School, usher, volunteer with activities, part of youth committee and media committee

My name is Chris. I live in Orange County Ca. I have a 10 month old baby boy named Daniel, and a very caring wife named Valerie.

I was baptised in 1997. Prior to that I was very heavily involved with drugs and alcohol, but the Lord delivered me!

I have an associates degree in personal ministries. I attended SAU, and was working on getting a BA in theology, but my life took a change of course, and so I didn't finish. I sought to complete a degree in Religious Studies through Home Study, only had two courses left, but I took a dive in my walk with God because of some very bad experiences I had with a few Christians. So I didn't finish that.

But right now I'm getting back on track again in my walk with Christ.

Interestingly, CF has played a major role in me getting my life straight with the Lord again, and so I am thankful for this community!

My name is Edwin, I'm in Germany in the U.S Air Force, My favorite book in the bible is Genesis, I'm married with a beautifu 11 month baby girl name Arianna.
Even thought I have accepted my lord Yeshua/Jesus as my saviour, but I have not being baptist. For the longest time I've been looking for a church that will baptist in christ, and not the denomination. I like the SDA because they are founded in the word of god.

I have been living according to the principles of Christ for as long as I can remember, but I was baptised into the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the age of 12, more than 30 years ago. I continue to believe that God raised up this segment of the Christian community to lead us all into the time of the Second Coming. My favorite church activity is congregational and choral singing. When asked I will occassionally preach, teach and sing. I don't have a favorite book by my favorite text is Psalm 81:10. I have now developed a strong liking for Mark 11:23-24.

Favorite Bible version/study Bible: NIV for most things, ESV or KJV on esword for study, sometimes my Harper Collins NRSV if I want a liberal Bible for some reason, and Greek NT.

Sophia7 on here is the wifey, and we have 3 kids under the age of 5! So life is exciting. Grew up sort of in the church, since both of my parents dropped out of their respective faiths before I was born, and my grandparents took me to church. I basically became more into it during my teen years, studying for myself what I thought.

We have been pastoring nearly 8 years now, 5 years at our current location.

Outlook regarding SDAism: If I hadn't walked into a Seventh day Adventist church I likely wouldn't be a Christian

Favorite church activity: Bible study, thousands of hours of it. I love it
Participation in your church: Personal Ministries leader, Sabbath School Teacher and Superintendant, Bible studies in my home every Friday night
Favorite book of the Bible: Tough one, I like the Epistles a lot.
Favorite verse/passage: John 15:13, "Great love hath no man than this..."
Favorite Bible version/study Bible: I'm a KJV kinda guy

They call me "Second Tim" because we have two in my little church and, well...I was the second one to come along.

Outlook regarding SDAism: not a member, but i search for the truth.
Accepted Christ/ Baptismal age: Babtized at around 11, accepted Jesus as my Christ at 21 waiting to get babtized....this time understanding what it means.
Favorite church activity: i can't get up in time for the sermon on sabbath mornings
Participation in your church: not an active member....can't get used to the whole church thing.
Favorite book of the Bible: John
Favorite verse/passage: so many!!!!!
Favorite Bible version/study Bible: NKJV/KJV Parallel Bible....don't like the newer translations.

a. get up later
b. have a service geared just for those with questions.

Or you could see if there are any small groups around. They are great for fellowship, study, support, prayer, and they are far less formal than the regular church service. It might be a good way to get acclimated.

hi dave, there is AY meetings on sabbath afternoons and i attend every so often. and my local church just started the small groups thing. i might start attending those. thanks!

Maybe, if we called it de-memberization would realize that the act does more than separate a member, but it actually disfigures the body.

Favorite verse/passage: at the moments prob fruits of the spirit passage... love, joy, peace, self-control ...
Favorite Bible version/study Bible: I like a few different versions at a time if studying, but KJV is good and NIV is good for a quick read

Anyhow I'm a newbie here and it seems quite nice... if I'd have to be a newbie anywhere here's not too bad at all lol
