Scripture inspired poem.

Quietness

"Be still and know that I am God,"
That I who made and gave thee life
Will lead thy faltering steps aright;
That I who see each sparrow's fall
Will hear and heed thy earnest call.
I am God.

"Be still and know that I am God,"
When aching burdens crush thy heart,
Then know I form thee for thy part
And purpose in the plan I hold.
Trust in God.

"Be still and know that I am God,"
Who made the atom's tiny span
And set it moving to My plan,
That I who guide the stars above
Will guide and keep thee in My love.
Be thou still.

and Right now sits at god's right hand,
He hung, bled, and died,
For each and every one of us,
You can call him what you want,
But I call him Jesus.

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets ​

of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the ​

roads are wet and slick.​

Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen ,spoke up from her relaxed position​

in her seat. "Dad, I'm thinking of something."
This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some
fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all
that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.
"What are you thinking?" I asked.
"The rain!" she began, "is like sin, and the windshield
wipers are like God wiping our sins away."
After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was able to respond.
"That's really good, Aspen."
Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little girl take
this revelation? So I asked... "Do you notice how the rain
keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"
Aspen didn't hesitate one moment with her answer:
"We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us." ​

The world, I thought, belonged to me -
Goods, gold and people, land and sea -
Where'er I walked beneath God's sky
In those old days my word was "I."

Years passed; there flashed my pathway near
The fragment of a vision dear;
My former word no more sufficed,
And what I said was -"I and Christ."

But, O, the more I looked on Him,
His glory grew, while mine grew dim,
I shrank so small, He towered so high,
All I dared say was - "Christ and I."

Years more the vision held its place
and looked me steadily in the face;
I speak now in humbler tone,
And what I say is - "Christ alone."

A Pierced Man Saved Me!

The scripture says that he had no beauty
To die on the old rugged cross was his duty
A crown of sharp thorns pierced his head
A spear pierced his side after he was dead

His life on earth was full of rejection and grief
From his agony on the cross he found no relief
He was thirsty so they gave him vinegar to drink
A title was wrote on his cross with bloodstained ink

The seven words Pilate placed on the cross I will quote
JESUS OF NAZARETH KING OF THE JEWS he wrote
This man of sorrows hung dead on that bloody cross
As his mother Mary looked on and wept for her loss

Something glorious happened on the third day
His body no longer in that cold sepulchre lay
He arose from the dead and lives evermore
Left behind was the linen clothes that he wore

This pierced man Jesus saved my soul from hell
I am so happy and thankful that I could with joy yell
I know I serve a risen savior that cares for my soul
Jesus has entered into my heart and made me whole

A Creed For Those Who Have Suffered

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey . . .

I asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things . . .

I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise . . .

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God . . .

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things . . .

I got nothing I asked for - but everything I had hoped for.

Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

I am, among men, most richly blessed!
