  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just a few links from a quick google search on 'scrapbooking'. Some of the most important things to look for are:

acid free- many papers have this in it and this will eat the paper on your pics, kill the picture

lignin free- lignin in short, is the stuff that makes the paper discolor

buffered- a buffered paper has a low enough pH that it will act as a 'buffer' between your photos and any higher acid content you may place on the page, it will help minimize the acid from migrating to your photo

Stay away from any plastics that have PVC (poly vinyl chloride)... this produces a gas that will also negatively affect your photos and items you are trying to preserve.

Remember it's okay to 'crop' or cut your photos (so long as you have the negative, just incase you'd want further copies in the future).

I originally got hooked up with Creative Memories http://creativememories.com/ back in 1992 before scrapbooking became a massively popular thing.

I belong to the 'school' of 'Less is More' so I use some of the additives, i.e. stickers and diecuts, but not so they over run the photos.

Journal, Journal, Journal... about your photos. And do so in your own handwriting as much as possible it will preserve an additional piece of who you are for the future generations who see the albums.

I used to scrapbook alot, but kinda got out of doing it when I moved and the new friends I made weren't into it. I've recently moved back so I'm around all my scrapbooking buddies again and I can't wait to jump back into it. My biggest advice is to find friends to scrapbook with. It's loads more fun and you can bounce ideas off of each other. Good luck.

:wave:Scrapbooking is great fun! I've been doing it for a couple of years now.

The one thing to remember is that there are no 'scrapbooking rules'. A scrapbook is a very original and personal craft. If you like what you've created - you've done it right.

Enjoy! ;)

Blessings,
Lilli

Oh yes, the great word: SCRAPBOOKING!!! I love to do it! I made a room to do it and it's like an out-building my dad was sometimes using for an office, but me and my sister decided that he wasn't using it enough, so we took it over! but he didn't really care. It's so fun now because I can do it whenever I feel like it, and not have to haul 100 boxes of embellishments out from under my bed!
I do truely love to scrapbook.
