Since we're strapped for cash this year, I went to local thrift stores and bought up all their old Scrabble sets. Now I'm taking the letters from the sets and making ornaments for my friends and family with their names on them. To make it cuter, I put tiny red, green, or white bows on them. So cute!! Just wanted to share. : D

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Now THAT is a cool idea! So, what exactly do they look like? I mean, how do you attach the letters together and attach a hanger and all that?

i attatch the letters together with a very strong wood epoxy (make sure the tiles are clean, otherwise the glue won't get a strong hold) and i start each ornament with a blank tile that i drill a hole through (with the smallest drill bit i have) i attach the letters this way: the backside of the first letter gets glued to the frontside of the second. the words descend straight down. they are so cute!
